[xubuntu] Re: SIS 771/671 + Xubuntu 14.04 LTS

That's all for now (or forever). I don't think they will ever fix this. And no, it's not Elementary OS specific. In any distro you're gonna find the same problems.
I got sick of this SIS card and I...

I'm testing Xubuntu 14.04 on a Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 771/671 PCIE VGA Display Adapter (rev 10), no 3D acceleration (I don't mind it), the thing is I can't get the right resolution 1200x800...

  8. Re: Bug for graphics cards from Silicon Integrated Systems / SIS solved in 14.04

When I do a fresh install no xorg.conf is created. The output I pasted in the previous message was without any xorg.conf.

But since resolution 640x480 is too low I kill X, paste this xorg.conf...

[ubuntu] Re: SiS 771/671 Mirage 3 Video Drivers

That gives me new ideas to test tonight.
1- Copy/paste xorg, conf from live session. I'm gonna get that.
2- Video driver used in live session. Can you type the commands I need to get to know that?

    [xubuntu] Re: SIS 671 771 + Xubuntu 13.04

Xubuntu 14.04 works in a near to proper resolution by adding

    sudo cp xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf
where xorg.conf contains this esoteric things (remember I'm a plain user, willing to migrate from...

[ubuntu] Re: SiS 771/671 Mirage 3 Video Drivers

Well, no. It seems Ubuntu 14.04 hasn't fixed the issue yet with SIS 771/671. Despite it seems working acceptably right form Live DVD when installed low resolution is the only thing you get. It's...

    [xubuntu] Re: SIS 671 771 + Xubuntu 13.04

Now trying Xubuntu 14.04, in spite of Live DVD working pretty fine (1024x768 instead of expected 1200x800 resolution) after installing resolution went down to 640x480, it won't admit any other ...
  14. Re: Bug for graphics cards from Silicon Integrated Systems / SIS solved in 14.04

Morgaes, I've been trying Trusty Live DVD, and it had an "acceptable 1024x768" (1200x800 was expected) resolution and wireless worked. But when I installed it wireless stopped working, couldn't...

    [xubuntu] SIS 771/671 + Xubuntu 14.04 LTS

I've just fresh-installed Xubuntu 13.04 on a SIS 671/771 chip notebook. Can't get its normal display resolution 1200x800.
I've read before that there are hacked drivers for this hideous chip for...
