Some legacy cards won't work with the newer drivers. Nvidia.com has a listing of which cards will work with which drivers. I don't have the link right now but look under the drivers section for...
Not blunt at all. Long time programmer here. I'll go to Nvidia and rattle their cages a bit and see if there is a reason that only a part of their software works :) Just wanted to make sure there...
Sorry, didn't give all the details. I can access that information via the nvidia X Server settings application under the preferences menu (should say Linux Mint 17.2 also). It appears that...
Ok, quick question... I now have 2 Nvidia graphics cards. The nvidia variable allows me to access information about the card such as gpufreq, temp, etc., BUT only for the first card. How does one...
Bingo! That was the config file. For some reason, known only to the OS, the same interface with the same MAC address was listed 3 times, wlan0, wlan1, and wlan2. FYI, the last entry in the file is...
Hello,
Probably an easy fix but I haven't been able to find it. All my systems call their wireless interface wlan0 EXCEPT for one which calls it wlan2. Where is that interface name defined? ...

Actually HP-UX sys admin on workstations and data base servers for most of those 25 years. When 16MB of memory and 100MB hard drive would cost a years salary (almost ;). Can remember having to get...
Force of habit. For 25+ years its always been swap = memory. The only time it gets used is when I'm running *******. On the other hand, its a 1TB drive. I have it show because its a flag...
I wonder how difficult it would be to modify the current bar graph code you could include a flag and an x,y location where the text of the passed value to be graphed could be printed?
Answer from Conky IRC; no can do. I'll just have to put up with the possibility that the values shown in the text and on the bar graphs may be different. That and spawning 8 system calls that...
Guess I should have been clearer as to what I was looking for (was in a rush at the time). So here is my code section:

Hello All,
Quick question: is there a way to assign the output from an execi function to a local variable? I use execi to get my cpu temperatures that I'd like to use in two places and I want...
Check the link that I pointed to. It has a sensors config file that you can add to /etc/sensors.d with some of the voltages labeled.

I edited my previous post. Should have been underscores not hyphens. ACPI will have a fit on some systems if the nct6775 module is installed with out that boot parameter. Take a look at this link:...
Nope. Module problem.
Its a problem with lm-sensors and the new Z97 chipset. Add 'acpi_enforce_resources=lax' to the kernel boot parameters and then install the nct6775 module.

Need to install nvidia-modprobe,
Hello,
Upgraded my system from Ubuntu 13.10 to 14.10 via 14.04 and my graphics card no longer shows as a usable GPU for my BOINC applications. It was working fine when I was running 13.10.

Hello,
I'm getting random kernel panics on my system that is causing it to re-boot. Is there a core dump file generated that might help define where the problem is occurring and where might it...
Hello,
I've been working on overclocking my system and it works fine to a certain point past which I start getting kernel panics. The details:
M/B: Asus Z97M-PLUS
CPU: Intel i5-4670K
MEM:...
Unfortunately it doesn't support newer kernels and processors >2013. Thanks though. Big question is why doesn't sensors print out the voltages?
Jon.
Sorry, should have been more specific. I have an ASUS Z97M-PLUS MB. sensors only gives the following output:
jon@mothership:~$ sensors
acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: ...
Hello,
I'm looking for a utility that can monitor CPU voltages in a manner similar to what turbostat and powertop can do for frequencies.
Thanks
