  2. [SOLVED] Re: failed to boot and stuck in purple screen

I finally found the problem: somehow "secure boot" has been enforced in BIOS! Changing it back to "compatibility" mode fixed the problem.

Thanks all for the help :-)

Just set "idmap backend = tdb2" in /etc/samba/smb.conf and it will fix the problem.

Found the problem! Installing the linux-image-extra package fixes the problem. Presumably it contains the needed USB keyboard driver.

    [ubuntu] Re: printer won't print

Tried it with the 32bit 12.10 desktop booted from USB key. Same result, i.e., absolutely nothing even when using the "print test page" or the "print self-test page".

  17. Re: failed to boot on a UEFI computer (ThinkCentre Edge 92)

It is likely due to this issue: http://mjg59.dreamwidth.org/20187.html?thread=774619

Thanks for the reply. The problem is, there is no boot menu at all. The first thing appears on the screen is that error message.

    [ubuntu] Re: kvm/iptables port forwarding
