    Re: Touchpad unusable

I can add a little more information after a day of looking into this with no replies. I am not including copy / paste as this is not the system with the touchpad.

    If I look at the

    Touchpad unusable

I just purchased a new Panasonic CF-54 and the touch-pad is not working correctly in Live or installed environment. When I touch the touch-pad the mouse will move seemingly randomly at extreme...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: System not running startx on boot, gdm running fine

I tried teh first 2 suggestions, have not tried a purge yet, however the problem occurs with both lightdm and gdm just the same. As long as I dont have the system set to auto-login I am fine.
  4. [ubuntu] Re: System not running startx on boot, gdm running fine

    **Update**

If I disable automatic login I get the login screen but if I set it to auto login it will not work.
  5. [ubuntu] Re: System not running startx on boot, gdm running fine

Ok, this makes sense, but I am never presented with a GUI login. If I check services gdm is running

    # service gdm status
    gdm start/running, process 2198

I have the account set to log in...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: System not running startx on boot, gdm running fine

I have tried this. This is mainly reffering to having startx run after a login from the command line if I am correct. I believe the idea here in this article is when you are not using a Display...
  7. [ubuntu] System not running startx on boot, gdm running fine

When I boot my system it is not running startx. I can manually run startx and it will boot, but I need it to start automatically. I am sure this is something simple but I cannot seem to find this...

    [ubuntu] Re: Samsung series 9

I seem to have an issue with the ambient light sensor causing my X to freeze when the state changes while the lid is closed.

What I have been able to do to get this to be reproducible with any...

[ubuntu] Re: Touchpad issues - Click and drag

I think the problem is that my click-pad is being recognized as a touch-pad. How can I set it to a click-pad

[ubuntu] Touchpad issues - Click and drag

I have a touchpad with integrated mouse buttons. If I click with those buttons I cannot then use a second finger to drag. What can I do to resolve this?
  11. [ubuntu] Re: My swap unmounts on me after finished booting

    double post, disregard.
  12. [ubuntu] Re: My swap unmounts on me after finished booting

Well at the moment I am away from that computer.

rc.local litterally is nothing but commented out lines, the normal Ubuntu comments then:

    sleep 300
    end

The reason I think it is rc.local...
  13. [ubuntu] My swap unmounts on me after finished booting

I have Ubuntu 10.04 running on a system. I have encrypted the setup (Luks) and have various other computer running on a similar setup. My system keeps unmounting my swap space on me after it boots,...
  14. [ubuntu] Re: Cannot associate a file type with a program

downloaded the unstable .deb and installed it
  15. [ubuntu] Re: Cannot associate a file type with a program

I already know that works, the problem is I cannot associate .love with Love 2D, not looking for a workaround, looking for a solution.
  16. [ubuntu] Cannot associate a file type with a program

Trying to use Love 2D (unstable) to open Mari0 and I am not able to. Ubuntu sees the .love file as a zip (which in a sense it is) but the love application opens those. If I right click and go to...

[SOLVED] Re: VBox: Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)

That is specifically what DKMS is supposed to do for you. When you update you kernel DKMS recompiles all modules registered with it.
  18. [ubuntu] Re: Security issue: Locked computer and Virtualbox

Auto suspending my machine would not be something I wish to do as I want my machine to still be online and the host and guest to still be processing.
  19. [ubuntu] Re: Security issue: Locked computer and Virtualbox

I'm not sure what you mean
  20. [ubuntu] Re: Security issue: Locked computer and Virtualbox

So where should I go / post to get this fixed, or at least start a discussion about having it fixed?
  21. [ubuntu] Re: Security issue: Locked computer and Virtualbox

Yes and no. I think of the VM as an app to which is why this particularly bugs me. Being in ANY app should not cause the locking feature to not work. A user should not have to log out to secure...
  22. [ubuntu] Re: Security issue: Locked computer and Virtualbox

That can be done, but then there is the annoyance of leaving the VM and again having to enter a password while actively at the computer. That is not a good solution, but it is a temporary work...
  23. [ubuntu] Re: Security issue: Locked computer and Virtualbox

Should this be submitted as a bug to launchpad? Any thoughts on this?
  24. [ubuntu] Re: Security issue: Locked computer and Virtualbox

That's right, I forgot you could get it to show that way as well. I don't think this should be regarded as 'normal behavior'. It does pose an extra level vulnerability.
  25. [ubuntu] Re: Security issue: Locked computer and Virtualbox

You are right, it is safer to do so, but not always practical as I then have to leave the guest session to manually lock the system as you cannot lock it while your guest has focus.
