    That would assist a monopoly survive. Maybe MS Office might find it easier to be "intraoperable" with its own previous versions and "interoperable" with an open source standard.

    Try to figure out how to use differential updates for software. There was a move in that direction but I think the idea was dropped, at least in the *buntu ecosystem.
