I have had many problems with Glipper on Hardy. I can only recommend Parcellite. A package for Ubuntu is available on its web site: http://code.google.com/p/xyhthyx/
When I switch from the proprietary ATI driver to the VESA driver, the problem disappears. No doubt where the problem lies.
Are we the only ones experiencing this, or is a double xorg process the...

I can confirm this here, also with an ATI card. I guess this is a driver problem.
Hello,
on my Ubuntu 8.04 system, Xorg is showing up in two processes:

xfwm4 works great - it's fast, and has lots of features... and best of all, it fixes my problem!
But... there's a but here... it introduces new problems... compatibility with the taskbar......
Perhaps the title is a bit misleading. What I meant with the taskbar, was the "Opening..." thing mentioned - thing "opening..." while they're actually already opened.
Thanks for your xfwm4...
Hello,
I am using Dapper as a student, and I work with documents, images, audio.... things that require a well-structured file system, a good filemanager, and seamless window-management. With...
On my machine Dapper works excellent. I can't really, and you'll have to believe me, feel the performance boost that many had predicted, but it's definitely smoother in terms of software - GNOME 2.14...
From: http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20060612#opinion
The latest issue of Distrowatch Weekly states, considering the latest releases of Linux distributions the last quarter of 2006, that...
For me, Breezy was the reason why I after eight years of moving back and forth between Linux and Windows, finally (and hopefully for good) settled in Linux. Not that Breezy changed everything, but...
Thanks for a great tip.
I have the same problem here.
Today on OSNews I found an interessting file system comparison between ext3, XFS, JFS and ReiserFS (v3).
The conclusion:
Read the test here
Would XFS be my best bet for Dapper?
Thanks again for your great packaging work, kleeman! Works magnificantly this time also.
Have the pmount issues from earlier kernel compilations been fixed?
Well, as far as I know, this is also possible with apt. http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/apt-howto/ch-sourcehandling.en.html
But does perhaps the ports system - of which I have heard many...
Or simply download EoG 2.14 and compile it on Breezy. I have made a deb for it here also:

It is one of those 2.14 applications that actually...
I use them both, actually. For simple file operations, when I want something done in a hurry, or for the dialy double-click and document-handling, I use Nautilus.
When there are more, advanced...
I've been using Breezy now since September, and I'm really satisfied with it. I would say, that it takes a few months (at least for me) to get fully comfortable with an OS (or a distro) - since for...
I wish I could, but now I have been sitting here for at least 5 minutes forever trying to get it crash, and it doesn't. 8)
Hopefully that's a good sign. But I'll report it at once, if I find it....
I generally like Konqueror, but sometimes, when using it in Kubuntu (the 3.5.1) it suddenly crashes, just vanishes. For example when doing a many tasks in the same window - ie. PDF viewing, web...
I disagree. In my experience Eog does the job. I don't need various options for altering the pictures - I want to see them, present them, and in a quick way. I cannot use the scroll wheel to zoom...
Yes, all the time, actually, and that's because Gaim 1.5 can't transfer P2P but has to go via a Microsoft server.
