I have this same issue with Huawei 353. It's there, but sometimes it dissappears from the panel. When I turn WIFI off and on, it appears to be back after some time. Weird.

Well bad news. Intel was fine with Ubuntu at 10.04.xx, but after that it's all gone to hell.

Since 11.10 or so Ubuntu hasn't recognized Intel chips at all.
