Re: Do you think the netbook is dead?

I love my netbook. Obviously, it's not a desktop or even a laptop (though the laptop I had for college was never that great to begin with). I use it for surfing the internet and writing in bed,...
  2. Re: Thinking of getting an iMac. (Don't beat me up!)

The iMac is a really nice computer, I used a 27inch in college and it was really nice. OSX is really easy to use, I think if you are at all familiar with computers (which, duh) you won't have a...

    Poll: Re: work dress code

I would take anything at this point as long as it's not khaki pants and a blue polo shirt everyday. Wearing a uniform has to be ten times worse than any sort of dress code - you still have a bit of...

Re: Stupid laws in your area.

Well, the only stupid laws I can come up with on the top of my head are the liquor laws (go figure).

In Pennsylvania, you can only purchase wine and 'spirits' from a state-owned and operated...

    Re: bosses on facebook?

I'm pretty sure that my boss doesn't know the first thing about facebook, let alone computers in general. She's made that pretty clear. As for anyone else at work, I'd probably add them to a work...

    [ubuntu] Re: Upgrading 8.4 > 9.10

    Thanks. ^^

I will certainly take that into consideration. I wasn't planning on installing it right away, I'll take some time to play around first.

    [ubuntu] Re: Upgrading 8.4 > 9.10

Ah, that's great. Thank you :D

And shame on me for not checking the wiki first!

    [ubuntu] Upgrading 8.4 > 9.10

    Hi guys.

I want to make sure that I'm doing this properly, before I break something. My laptop currently dual boots Windows and Ubuntu 8.4. I'm looking to install 9.10 over top of my current...

    Re: Linguistic survey on ubuntuforums.org

    Interesting survey!
Are you going to post stats or any results from it? It'd be interesting to see what other people say.

Also, I have to agree about the quiz page itself. Very cool setup. :D

    Re: Another Ubuntu Wallpaper

    I have to say that I love that this is not orange, brown or yellow. Initial reaction. ^^;;

But I do have to agree with Fzang about the stripes, especially with the glow they do hurt the eyes a...

    Re: SuperNova wallpaper

This is really nice! My only suggestion/crit would be to move the nova off center, maybe make it a bit larger. That's something you would have to experiment with though..

As for the logo, I don't...

Poll: Re: Question for those who have OS X or Windows!

Surprisingly enough.. I believe I do. I finally bought an Adobe license for my Creative Suite. :P

Really though, I've lost track of all the cracks and whatnot so I've lost them over time.
  13. Re: How many times did you reinstall Ubuntu before you "got" it?

Hmm.. I installed Ubuntu into Wubi before I ever actually partitioned my hard drive. After tinkering around with Wubi (getting the wireless to work mostly), I went ahead and partitioned it and...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Wander My Friends - Bear McCreary.

Possibly my favorite song from Battlestar Galactica. <3

    Re: New BattleStar Galactica

I'm a big fan of the new BSG, so Caprica looks pretty interesting to me, hopefully it will be good.

The new movie on the other hand.. I'm not sure we need a third 're-imagining' of Battlestar...

    Re: Gnome Condiments

I mostly just use conky. I experimented with eyecandy like gnome-do but I really prefer the minimal simplicity of things like flux/openbox and conky.

Poll: Re: Fallout 3 vs The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

I agree with this. I will take the graphics downgrade (and better performance <_<) with Morrowind because I found the storyline and world to be much more interesting.

    That being said, Oblivion is...

[photography] Re: Best distro for creative uses?

Now let's not assume all artists can't use a computer.. just most of them from what I've seen, probably wouldn't want to bother. ^^

I don't think you really need a specific distro - whichever one...
  19. Re: How many jokes can we make about this picture?

Re: Get a smart phone or not.

I don't really have a 'smart' phone but I did buy a phone with features that I never really use! It's a music phone where you can buy a micro-SD card and put music on it, which I never did.

    I...

    Re: Do you report bugs?

To be honest, no I've never reported a bug - but I also haven't really come across anything that really resembles one. I've always used a stable version of Ubuntu.

Not to say that I would never...

    Re: Best distro for you?

I really like Crunchbang. It's based off Ubuntu which I'm already familiar with but has the openbox/fluxbox desktop which I really prefer over Gnome and all the applications included work very well...
  23. Re: Is it a bad idea to have KDE and OpenBox on the same system?

I run both Gnome and Fluxbox on this computer, and my only real problem has been aesthetic. Gnome programs looking ugly in Fluxbox, but a little tweaking fixed that issue.

Re: what desktop environment r u using?

    Fluxbox.

I like the minimal desktop and all the customization opportunities.

Though between Gnome and KDE, I'd go with Gnome.
  25. Re: [Release] Ubuntu Wallpaper - Go beyond windows

I really like this, great concept and wallpaper. ;)
