It is very easy, you just have to make sure not to use the fake "remote desktop" that won't connect to any Windows machines because it is really VNC and it is not compatible with the real Windows...

Seems that you can't build a live CD of a newer version of Ubuntu using an older version as host.

You need good tutorials that help you in your process, here are two very good links.

1) Install clonezilla on Ubuntu
