[ubuntu] Re: Unlock Login Keyring Freeze

I have/had this same issue, and it's definitely related to Gnome-Do. Very surprised I haven't read more about it.

[ubuntu] Re: HAL help! Disabling mouse middle click

I would like to know how to do this as well! (In my case, middle-clicking causes X to shutdown...which is so, so, so unfortunate.)

[ubuntu] Re: sound skips in rhythmbox

Rhythmbox still skips. I've switched to Banshee because of this, but I miss having album artwork I can actually see.
  5. [ubuntu] Foxit PDF Reader 1.0 Beta (Linux Native - Working!)

I just noticed on 1/20/2009 Foxit updated their native Linux version of their PDF viewer. I've read several posts claiming that no one got it working in the past...but this version installed and ran...

[ubuntu] Re: sound skips in rhythmbox

I disabled Evolution Alarm Notifier, but it didn't help. This is extremely annoying, considering my life consists of listening to music and scrolling through research papers. :D

[ubuntu] Re: Mouse Triggering Accidental Shutdown

I tried that to no avail.

I also fully removed compiz to no avail.

Thanks for the help--I'm out of ideas!

[ubuntu] Re: Mouse Triggering Accidental Shutdown

This occurred between performing the mouse click and subsequently logging back into gdm. I find it odd that it mentions compiz...since I'm not using it. A few days ago (not sure why...curiosity?) I...

[ubuntu] Re: Mouse Triggering Accidental Shutdown

    I'm about to check that...thanks.

This is extremely weird. After seemingly no change, when I perform the mouse-click it's bringing me to the Login Screen now. I disabled the Log Out shortcut...

[ubuntu] Re: Mouse Triggering Accidental Shutdown

I should also add that if I manually shutdown the computer it goes through the proper shutdown sequence. This screen only comes up through the mouse error.

Knowing the Apple mouse, it was also my...

[ubuntu] Re: Mouse Triggering Accidental Shutdown

Sorry, I'm not sure where a "mouse shortcut" could be. I didn't see anything peculiar in Prefs > Keyboard Shortcuts.

I went into Prefs > SCIM Input Methods Setup and found this in Front End>...

[ubuntu] Mouse Triggering Accidental Shutdown of X

After nearly driving me mad, I found a pattern behind my "random" power downs I was experiencing in 8.10. They seem to be related to the new Apple Mighty Mouse I found lying around the office. I'm...

[all variants] Re: Laptop heat/fan workaround

Sharing Rhythmbox over a network was killing my CPU (DAACP I think?).
Whenever Tracker starts indexing there's also a massive heat up.

Just curious, how involved is cleaning your fan?

Re: Lean Mean Ubuntu KDE Machine

I'm a relatively new Kubuntu user.

So far I like it a lot better than Ubuntu--mostly because I like the standard apps more. It has more of an OS X iLife-type feel to it, IMHO. I personally...

Re: Biggest "Oops" Moment In Ubuntu

I guess the Mathematica installer gave special permissions to the install directory. I wasn't able to remove it with sudo. Makes no sense to me either. What a freak accident.

    Biggest "Oops" Moment In Ubuntu

Just wondering what your biggest accidental screw up in Ubuntu was. It could be either caused by something you didn't understand, or something you just did completely by accident.

    I'll share. ...

Sorry to hear that didn't work. You can always keep an eye out on the beryl forums for new solutions...that's where I first found the script solution.

    You do have gnome-sessions-daemon set...

Re: Howto: ATI Mobility Beryl/XGL FGLRX in Edgy

    Now I know practically nothing...
