  1. [ubuntu] Re: Upgrading Windows partition w/o losing Ubuntu

It's actually a variant of Ubuntu called Linux Mint. It's based on 9.04.
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Upgrading Windows partition w/o losing Ubuntu

    What about the boot loader.
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Upgrading Windows partition w/o losing Ubuntu

No, it's a dual boot set up, not with Wubi.
  4. [ubuntu] Upgrading Windows partition w/o losing Ubuntu

I'm thinking about moving to Windows 7 on my Windows partition, but I'm not sure how to do this without messing up the boot loader or screwing up my Ubuntu install. Is there a tutorial on doing this?

[ubuntu] Re: Best full backup app for Ubuntu

Clonezilla seems to have worked without a hitch. Hopefully I'll be in good shape if things go squirrely again. Thanks!

[ubuntu] Re: Best full backup app for Ubuntu

When I go to download Clonezilla, I only see ones for i386 architecture. Anyone know if the experimental version (only one that supports ext4) is available in amd64?

[ubuntu] Re: Best full backup app for Ubuntu

I see a program called Keep in Synaptics Package Manager, but it says it's a "backup system for KDE." Is that the one and will it work fine with GNOME?

[ubuntu] Best full backup app for Ubuntu

I just had to reinstall my 9.04 system because it decided it just wouldn't boot any longer. Now that I've got all my settings and wireless config done again, I don't want to have to do this again so...

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.04 suddenly won't boot

    bump.

Since the 9.04 live CD doesn't have the repair broken system option, how would I run a command that does the same thing to that install after the live CD has booted up?

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.04 suddenly won't boot

One thing I saw when I tried it again was during the booting up there was one line in all that text that said "acer-wmi - no or unsupported WMI interface - unable to load."

    What's that about?

Hmm. Doesn't seem to work. Just didn't give me the splash screen then boots to a blank screen.

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.04 suddenly won't boot

So if I do a fresh install, I should be able to go in and just drop those files back in there and my wireless and wired network stuff will work again? Because it was a pain getting them to work. ...

[ubuntu] Ubuntu 9.04 suddenly won't boot

How on earth can this many people be having issues with wireless and ethernet connectivity after the upgrade and this wasn't caught before releasing 9.04?

  25. [ubuntu] Ethernet not recognized after 9.04 upgrade

It doesn't respond at all to an ethernet cable being plugged in since the upgrade. Incidentally, it also won't connect to my Linksys wireless router. It sees the SSID but never connects. It just...
