[SOLVED] Re: Message I get when shutting down

You were supposed to replace "string to search for" with the actual words you are looking for. In other words:

grep -r "could not write" /var/log/

It might also help to use sudo so grep can see...

There is no need to "disable" AbiWord. Just install LibreOffice, using whatever means you prefer, and you will have the option of using either one.

  8. [lubuntu] Re: min hardware requirements to install Lubuntu on Asus eeePC 900A netbook 4gb sshd

You might have a look at Puppy Linux. It is designed to be run from a Live CD (or USB pen drive.) It only requires enough drive space for a small file to track installed components.

    Otherwise,...

There is an unexpected, and unexplained, space in the word "restricted." Not sure how or why it got there, but I would suspect that it might be part of your problem.

    [SOLVED] Re: sda2 hogging 283GB that I can't access?

OK, we now know that Ubuntu is installed on sda8. You need to make sure that there is nothing useful on sda2, sda6, or sda7. You can do that by mounting each one and checking what is on them.
