WAW! Boot-repair did the trick!
Thanks a lot 'oldfred'!
Of course I do boot from 22.04 in the grub menu by scrolling down with the down arrow. But you have only 10 seconds to do that. And often I am to late for that.
That's why I want to make it...
I use Ubuntu since 2006.
I work with the LTS releases. But now and then I check releases in between, to see how things are evolving.
So, recently I let the installer of 23.04 automatically...
@mikewhatever & @Hadaka,
Thank you very much for helping me out.
It's the first time that I tried to log in from outside my local network.
I simply did not realise you have to connect to the...
That was the first thing I tried, but there was a timeout and it failed.
Is it then a question of giving the thing more time?
And then: what also puzzles me:
the difference between the ip of the...
Hello. I'm Flemish. Excuse my English, as I will have to use a lot of words. I'll do my very best.
I have a small network at home. A ubuntu-computer (16.04), a macnotebook and a printer.

You might wonder what did happen to the gnome-screensaver in the first place.
Well... I removed it a couple of weeks ago and replaced it with Xscreensavers to amuse my grandchildren.
It didn't...
Thanks! That did the trick.
Can lock screen again.
Seems to be an insolvable problem!
It's, of course, awkward not to able to lock one's screen.
Where does one find the configuration/script of this keyboard shortcut Crtl+Alt+L?
I would like to be...
I suppose it's something mechanical? The screen doesn't react to Ctrl+Alt+L anymore.
Unfortunately, I don't have another screen to check this.
Otherwise, the screen seems to respond to everything...
Hi, I'm using 13.04.
This afternoon, out of the blue, the command Ctrl+Alt+L stopped working.
I noticed this when I started up from 'Pause'. It still worked this morning.
What can be wrong?
You are right: gmail does have a knob for it! Thanks.
By the way: the extraordinary beauty of your face moves me deeply!
Hello,
I am Flemish, so my English might sound a bit strange.
I installed 11.10 which provides Thunderbird as email-client.
I have three individual mail-boxes, one is gmail.
I successfully...
I checked the /etc/modules file. I find only one entry there: 'lp'
Is that the default? And what does lp stand for?
Is, what you talk about, an external hard-disk with usb-plug?
I managed to fix this maxtor-external-disk I use.
I couldn't mount it anymore and got the same message as you.
So I plugged it in,...
Hi, I installed a dual boot on a vista notebook Asus 7AM.
Installed 9.O4 manually, shrinking te vista-partition with the partition-manager on de install-cd, and mounted vista in /media during...
Thanks: That works!
There is a lot of interesting material on youtube. Unfortunately it is uploaded in pieces... many pieces sometimes.
Last I found a lecture that greatly interested me, cut in eleven files....
I get the same message for my maxtor basics 500gb external drive.
I have a dual boot jaunty/vista and it mounts in vista.
Is this a jaunty problem?
This is really silly. Bought the thing to store...
On the other hand: putting the notebook to black screen, that's meant for saving power isn't it. My technical knowledge is minimal. But I can see it must be a power-manager defect. What it actually...
I do not think it is a bug because everything is fine on a dell c640 laptop.
If it is a hardware thing with asus A7M, reinstall has no meaning. That's what I'm waiting for to hear from an other A7M...
Top sliders are set to NEVER.
I consider reinstall, but want to know first if anybody else has the problem with asus notebooks.
I have hardy installed on Asus A7M laptop. When I leave my desktop on, it is supposed to put the computer on black screen after 30 minutes. It does, but at the same time it puts the laptop to sleep....
