    You must set the IP manually in this scenario.

    It is possible to obtain IP address automatiacally, but one of the systems must be running DHCP which can assign the IP address to the other machines...

    The foolproof way is to download the iso, use unetbootin to make a boot disk(usb), and reboot system.
    boot from the disk(usb), upgrade to 13.04. :)
