I found this thread when searching about security and read it entirely and I must say even though it may seem negligent, I think it's great for someone to have said what the OP has said. In the year...
I went for your first solution and got it working and I'm happy to change things around when the kernel changes again. Thank you.
I did try this method first but couldn't get it working at...
So I guess the moral to this thread that it's not paranoia to be security conscious but more of a case that you can never be too careful.
I feel so ashamed to ask how to do this for various reasons but how do you change it so that you boot into Windows by default rather than Ubuntu?
I have tried looking at solutions such as on this...
Yes that is true, and I should have considered that it's just that I've been annoyed too many times by Mac owners...
Security isn't the only reason I use Linux. I find I can do certain thigs much more easily and I just find it more tranquil which is just a personal thing. I do wish that Linux worked as well as a...
Sorry it's taken a while to reply to your post particularly as you made quite a big effort with it.

This thread is becoming a bit of an eye opener for me in some ways as I thought my security practises were quite solid but I wasn't aware you could find maleware on sites that you think might be...

The last computer I had which was ten years ago pretty much got wiped out by viruses and other nasties which is why I take my security so seriously now. People who see my security set up think I'm...
I take my computer security fairly seriously as do a lot of people on this forum but I wonder at times whether I'm being over cautious or just making things more difficult for myself.
I have a...

I don't let anyone use my PC and I've managed to keep it healthy and virus free and that's how it will stay. I better mark this thread as solved!
Melting the drive comes easily by just using Ubuntu;) .
:P That'd definitely work but as you say I would like to use the drive again.
But just out of interest as I suspect you have the knowledge, what is the best way of scrubbing a computer drive clean?
Lol. I don't think I have to worry about the FBI. I just wanted a cleaned up hard drive for the best possible install. This is in preparation for the long term release in April.
I still don't get what I should be doing. Nothing seems to work:confused:
