    Never had a problem with external USB Hard Drives, USB Optical Drives or Flash Drives in either Ubuntu or Debian. Plug them in and they usually auto mount.

    You'll need the proprietary ATI drivers for the video but Jockey pulled those in without issue.

    Webcam,wireless all worked 'out of the box'

    I downloaded FF 3.5 from Mozilla and had the same problem.
    Opera, Konq and other browsers worked fine.

    I'm having the same !@#$%^ issue with Firefox under Karmic too. Web pages just DON'T want to load.
    I multi boot between 9.04, 9.10 and Debian Testing and only 9.10 has the Firefox issue....
