    Re: Am I the only one using LTS?

    The kid's computer has always run an LTS. It's just easier to manage, and it just works.

  4. Re: Recomendation for new Phone to use with Ubuntu?

    I'm looking to get an android phone too. Just how well do they work with linux? Can you sync music or backup pictures? Even if it just shows up as a flash drive I would be happy. I have a windows...

    Re: preferred release

    6.06 Dapper Drake. This remains the only release I had no problems using. A true LTS release IMO. It was a bit of a bummer having to upgrade to hardy when it EOL'd in July.
  6. Re: Ubuntu Netbook Remix vs Kubuntu Netbook Remix vs Ubuntu Moblin Remix

    Which netbook are you going to get? Watch out for the intel GMA 500 graphics chip. Takes some extra work to get it running. I'm very happy right now with 9.10 UNR.
  7. Re: Which distribution would you be using if Ubuntu did not exist?

    OpenSuse is on my main work station, and I'd just install it on my notebook and netbook as well. Was using SuSE long before Ubuntu came about.

    Poll: Re: Have you used Ubuntu one?

    Why aren't the 10 who voted yes speaking up? I use it, and am happy with it. It's really not that different from drop box, but it's built into karmic and it's easy to sync files between my desktop,...

    Re: Kde 4.3 released

    4.3 is beautiful. The past 4.x releases have not run well on my notebook, but 4.3 is fast, stable, and I'm not seeing x-org eating up my CPU. I've been using gnome for the past couple releases, but...

    [photography] Re: Photographer Thinking of Switching

    As was already stated, the Mac edition of CS4 will not run on Linux, you will need a windows version. I've run both CS, and CS2 with no real issues other then crashes with text layers in CS2. The...
  12. Re: Chromium (Google Chrome dev) 3.0.197.0 (0) has serious upgrades!

    Running the latest build, and it's really nice. So far stable, fast, and it looks great. Nice having a normal close button again.
  13. Re: So I just saw that Apple iTunes went DRM free earlier this year..

    +2. I think it's better to support a company who supports you (ie Linux desktop client). I don't ever see apple releasing a Linux port of iTunes. I wouldn't be surprised if they actively make sure it...

    Poll: Re: why use chrome instead of chromium?

    I use chromium just because it's a step above chrome in the release cycle so more features are present. I actually never thought about the EULA.

    Chrome = 3.0.196.0

    Chromium = 3.0.197.0

    I...

    Re: Did Photoshop ruin photographs?

    Photoshop didn't ruin photographs. If anything, the ability for anyone to take as many good or bad pictures as they want, and share those blurry pictures with bad light of something that happened...

    [photography] Re: Best distro for creative uses?

    Ubuntu with the ubnutustudio-graphics package installed isn't a bad start. If you're working with a lot of raw files, you may want to invest in Bibble Pro since f-spot, and digikam don't really...

    For Pano's AutoStitch does a decent job. It is a windows app, but works without problems in WINE.

    Re: Does anyone here actually use pseudocode?

    I had to use it when I took programing classes. It drove me nuts! I would just rather write real code. I'm a flowchart guy myself. But you have to do what your teacher wants right?

    I never had any issues seeing them. Drove my friends nuts. For those of you who can see them, this one is pretty wild.

    [photography] Re: Hugin and 9.04

    I have issues with hugin as well. I've found that autostitch works very well, and is easier to use IMO. It's a windows program, but it runs without issue under wine.
