Is there a patch for kernel 3.9 around?
There's a bug in upower that causes it to report inaccurate battery info sometimes after waking from sleep. The workaround posted in the bug is to put a script in sleep.d that automatically restarts...
That is in fact what I'm seeing :(

MacBook Pro 8,2 Kubuntu 12.10. The auto-stop function on the hard drive meant to be triggered if the computer is dropped doesn't seem to be working. What do I need to get it functioning? Thanks.
What does this mean, it keeps popping up in my syslog

So I'm pretty sure I messed up my install and I'm now having driver issues. Basically I can either run the AMD graphics driver, or my wireless driver. They were both previously working together,...
There doesn't seem to be any difference between brightness levels 70-100%. Is there anyway to recalibrate the brightness levels? I can definitely make the backlight dimmer in OS X before it goes to...
I have the same issue, my system will drop off the network and become unable to connect again until I reload the module, and even then it doesn't always work, or if it does it doesn't work for long. ...
The b43 driver just isn't working out for me. I get constant disconnects on my apartment's large wifi network, and I would like to try using the windows driver to see if it makes it any more usable....
I don't want to speak too soon, because I know as soon as I post this reply I'll start having problems. However, this seems to have solved my wifi problems. Previously, I was having trouble with my...
I'm running kubuntu 12.10 and installed the firmware extras package to get my wifi card working (b4331 on a MacBook Pro 8,2). Everything is working fine on my home network, which just has one...
I may have fixed it. I was being an idiot and using old instructions for setting up the card (b43 installer rather than linux-firmware-nonfree). Seems to be working very well on my apartment wifi...
I'm having trouble with keeping my laptop connected to my school's secure network. It uses PEAP / MSCHAPV2 authentication and has multiple routers spread out all over the campus. Two issues I'm...
Does anyone know how I can get the keyboard backlight keys to work with KDE? The volume and display brightness work out of the box, but not the keyboard backlight controls. I've tried installing...
Just like the title says, Unity doesn't start, and I seem to be kicked down the VESA drivers. Ideas?

Actually, that's a lie. It removes more than I want, including some gnome stuff and kernel headers

oh damn, that's exactly what I wanted. Thanks. I knew there had to be a way to uninstall a group, but I'm more familiar with yum then apt.
That's exactly what I don't want to do.
Tried that, finds some packages, but not others and just exists. Doesn't prompt me to uninstall what it did find.
I installed KDE by installing kde-standard, but how do I remove it now? Is there a way to do it without manually finding out every package included in kde-standard and removing them one by one?
I don't know of OP is going to come back, but mine stays low.
I have the same issue on a MacBook Pro 8,2. Haven't found a fix. Time to submit a bug report.
I just installed the ATI drivers for my graphics card, and the power saving feature seems pretty good. With it enabled, my battery meter will give me a max time of about 3 hours and 50 minutes. 4...
