Use ubuntu classic and add the cpu scaling module to your panel and put it on powersave.
Not gonna happen. Phones are riddled with DRM and have protections in place to keep you from doing things like this, especially the iPhone. AFAIK the dev's dont even have openiboot working on the...
Then you are certainly luckier than I. Mine runs at a constant 2000 rpm.
Macs are good, reliable pieces of hardware and the new ones come with insane laptop graphics and 4 cores! Ubuntu works quite well (once you follow the setup guide and install the fan script i made)....
If you have a buddy with a working ubuntu/debian installation, recreate the initrd with the required module. You will probably be able to find it in the initrd that works. (Maybe the kernel will...
In virtualbox you can create a virtual hd-symbolic-link like thingy from a physical hd/partition. If you manage to boot ubuntu from the partition without your hd's MBR, you're set.
Edit: if you...

As far as I know, the lack of cpu scaling on macbook(pro)s is a big problem. Don't bother using your brain to find a solution, for I am here to do that for you. Note that the script will not work...
Hey everybody, my CORRECT guide http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1683062
Nobody say this isn't possible because I will shoot you. After writing two somewhat-wrong guides, I have finally corrected my process. In this post is the instructions to create a linux USB drive...
1. Why pirate windows?
2. Windows sucks.
3. This is obviously a joke.
4. Leave.
5. If you want people to take you seriously, learn to spell and use proper grammar.
rEFIt is a PAIN, especially for having it boot as bios for a usb disk. Things that will boot pc's and virtualbox will not always boot from refit. I am finding out right now how to make a gpt-mbr...
Well, my xerox 6280N is retarded in the mental aspect. I have tried using the official driver from xerox.com and then I tried the community one which is the 6250 driver, but to no avail. My...

I want to try resoring/partitioning/screwing around with my ipod touch partitions, but I can only get it mounted through gvfs? I want direct access like I see with the online guides so I can use...
Use manual to set up your partitions or Disk Utility/Boot Camp for repartitioning.
Don't expect a detailed solution if you can't give a detailed explanation of the problem.
It looks like you deleted your mac partition. Sorry. Because of this I might write my guide on installing ubuntu and mac to a one-partition disk. If you have a backup of your parition table, you...
This is an updated version of my tutorial.
Screwed this guide up, now read:

First things first, you will need:
1GB or larger flash drive...
I could but that's a 2gb upload for me...
All you need to know is the way you type stuff in. You really don't need to memorize commands except for nano (pico or nano on mac), cd, mkdir, rm, cp, cat, echo, export, ls, find, grep,...
All the commands are there for you at the bottom of the window. Just scroll down with the arrow keys and type what you want to type in. Ctrl-x will exit but ask you to save if you modified the file.
It turns out this is not a very good way, there is a much more simpler and reliable way that I have found and I will make a guide soon.
