What is your graphics card make? You might need a propritary driver. to see find hardware drivers in one of the menus (I don't use the netbook interface so don't ask me where anything is) open it up...

Try opening your home folder on the old drive, hit Ctrl + H and you should see some folders with a . in front. (you may have to scroll down) find .evolution and double click it. then double click...

Or I just thought try installing ttf-bitstream-vera by its self:
sudo apt-get install ttf-bitstream-vera
report back the errors if any.

The problem is that googleearth requires:
ttf-dejavu ttf-bitstream-vera msttcorefonts
Run this:
sudo apt-get install ttf-dejavu ttf-bitstream-vera msttcorefonts
then run that install...
