I reset using dconf reset -f / and even deleted a bunch of files that were older than my install (i.e transferred from the previous laptop), but this has not fixed the issue. Battery is still...
I've recently installed Ubuntu 20.04.3 on a new Dell Vostro 3500 (11th gen processor). Ever since I did this, the battery is draining way too much while on suspend (~5-6% per hour). The output for...
I've recently installed Ubuntu 20.04.3 on a new Dell Vostro 3500 (11th gen processor). I was previously using 20.04.2 on an older Inspiron. On my old laptop, when I shut the lid, the screen would...
Thanks, that solves the problem. Here is another thread which had the same conclusion.
I've recently purchased a Dell Vostro 3500 with Windows 10 pre-installed. It is a UEFI system. I don't want to keep Windows 10 and I want to replace it with Ubuntu 20.04. I followed the regular...
Thanks for the reply.
Here is the output for inxi -b
System:
Host: Machine Kernel: 5.8.0-59-generic x86_64 bits: 64
Desktop: Gnome 3.36.9 Distro: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS (Focal Fossa) ...
There is STILL no solution to this and the issue hasn't gone away. I have noticed a few times that when I have around 5-6 Chrome tabs (which I used to have earlier as well) with possibly heavier...
Another freeze while running Zoom where a small bit of audio kept playing on loop. Here is a log entry from around the time of the freeze:
Jun 3 11:07:59 Machine gnome-shell[2124]: Window...
A little while ago I'd shut the laptop lid (my system is not set to suspend if that happens). I opened it to find that it was restarting on its own. I found the following log entries from around that...
I haven't been able to find any helpful results by searching for text snippets from the logs. But I'm not sure this could be a gnome-shell issue because it also happens with KDE Plasma. Is it...
UPDATE: Despite reinstalling Ubuntu 20.04 (with a kernel upgrade to 5.8.0-53), this issue persists. Reinstalled yesterday, had the first system freeze today after I opened the laptop lid and opened a...
Had another system crash and WiFi stopped working in the middle of a session (this time the system rebooted on its own). Here are the logs:
May 28 13:13:04 Machine wpa_supplicant[1103]: wlp8s0:...
I suddenly started facing an odd issue a few days ago which seems to happen only sometimes. If I'm streaming video or even doing an audio call on a browser (Chrome or Firefox), my system sometimes...
Sorry, but that isn't my query. I know the keyboard shortcut for zooming. My problem is that hitting the zoom key means the screen is magnified by a factor of 2 at the very least. I want to be able...
This is not at all a dupe. They're completely different questions. The other post is also mine. Please only respond after reading the entire question and not just the headline.
I just installed KDE Plasma on my Ubuntu 20.04 system. I've seen in this tutorial that in System Settings->Workspace Behaviour->Desktop Effects, one should be able to see and change configuration...
No I mean zooming the whole screen. Yeah, previously I'd used 14.04 which had Unity.
In previous versions of Ubuntu there was always an easy way to zoom into the screen with Compiz or something else. Ubuntu 20.04 does not allow Compiz and it doesn't have anything that facilitates...
SOLVED: This has nothing to do with the graphics card. This happens if zoom is enabled on desktop. If you switch it off, it'll go away.
Even after updating my driver using the instructions here under Method 2, the problem hasn't gone away.
Considering that it's been 7 months since 19.10 came out, should I just assume that Gnome EncFS will simply not be available in any versions of Ubuntu from now?
I'm just using the default drivers. There's nothing in the Additional Drivers tab in Softwares & Updates.
Also, I didn't face this with 12.04, 14.04 or 18.04 on the same laptop with the same...
Is no one addressing such bugs??
