Ok, I have ubuntu installed on my 8gig flash drive, works perfectly... except for some reason when I try to get the current updates some of the packages fail to install/configure:...
on my brother's laptop, I used the xubuntu cd to install, then used some apt-get commands I found somewhere else in the forums to install ubuntu-desktop and it works just fine
An even more simplistic and user-friendly way of doing it; you can right click on the file, choose properties, go to the "Permissions" tab, check the "Allow executing file as program" check box....
