Also the touchpad is perfect out of the box with 12.10. I recently switched to Xubuntu Because the performance is so much better on the low powered HP Mini.
That's fine. That command removes the old driver, so the touchpad will stop working. You need to finish all the steps to reload the new patched driver.
Kind of, but no. Follow the steps in post #124 of this thread to test and remove if it doesn't work as you hoped.
Post #124 of this thread mate.
I've never looked at the source for the 64bit kernel. It may be just the same, it may be very different, I've honestly no idea, sorry.
Also the patch is for a HP Mini, not a DV5, but it may work...
I was pleased to discover this too. 12.10 works very nicely on my Mini :)
Everything you need is in post #124 of this thread.
Good luck :D

What were the immediate problems? I (or someone else) may be able to help.
As for the other question, please start a new thread with an appropriate title.
Sorry I don't know the answer to your issue, but I can say I have used the persistence and for me it only takes a few seconds to write. Waiting 20mins definitely isn't normal behaviour but I've no...
Months ago. Ok, no problem. I just wanted to tidy up by removing the attachments from their original location and directing people to the new one.
I posted some messages with attachments some time ago and I would like to remove the attachments (I'm moving them all to one post for tidyness sake).
Is this possible?
Thanks,

It looks like you are using Ubuntu 12.04 with the latest kernel installed.
Please follow my instructions HERE and post in that thread if you have any issues.
This post is to draw everything into once place. Partly to help people looking for this patch and partly so I can keep better track myself lol.
I have attached all the patch files that I have...
If you are using a HP Mini 210 then ignore those commands.
Please post the output of this command:
uname -a
There are loads of possibilities for tweaks and changes but for me the right click is usable now. Anyone who is interested in modifying the source is free to do so as all relevant files are included...
I can't say with confidence whether this patch will work on your system. The patch has only been tested on a HP Mini 210 so it may or may not work for your "HP Pavilion dm3t".
Which commands did...
Have you tried disabling the firewall temporarily to see if samba starts working as you expected? It may or may not rule out the firewall as the cause of your problems.
Have you tried checking...
I don't know any facts related to the different architectures as I've never tried it myself, never compared the source and never tested how DKMS reacts in situations like that.
Personally I would...
I don't know from experience, I've never used a webcam in linux, but looking at FFMPEGs docs I'd say it's possible.
Your problem is almost definitely because this is a patch built from the 32bit PAE kernel source and you machine is running a 64bit kernel.
Only suggestion I have is to remove the patch by...
