There must be but, there wasn't a reason to look for one as there was the free airprint activator (rename of airprint hacktivator). But they turned there "free" tool in a forced donate 14 days trial...
Hi, recently joined and only did my 2nd installation of ubuntu a few weeks ago. The first one, a few years ago, was on an old pc which was getting to slow for the kids games. After the install i got...
Can't find much back, besides this was originally introduced with iOS 4.2 and somehow got change in 5 and is now back in iOS 6

re post#41 You need to edit the printer(s) Airprint service file under /etc/avahi/services and change URF=none to URF=DM3 and change in airprint.convs the filter "pdftoraster" to "-"
He is <quote>"I am thinking about issuing a new SRU for Precise, with this fix and the newest exception rules for incompatible USB printers." </quote>

if you know what you're doing
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=12260809&postcount=41 and change the convs to the bogus filter...
I found a away of confirming that cups advertises without services file without having an ios5 left :-)
avahi-browse -a -c | grep IPv4
with both BrowseLocalProtocols=cups dnssd
+ eth0 IPv4...
#Now i start to understand post 43, where he saw the printers twice on ios5
sudo cupsctl
#most likely shows both cups and dnssd as protocols I don't have an ios5 dev anymore so I can't test...
ok I've mailed Till who has provided a fix for 12.10
Here his reply:
Note that the iOS devices do not actually send files in URF format but CUPS has to pretend that it supports URF format so...
I guess you use airprint-deamon? which publishes the printers to avahi dynamically.
my 2 cents ......
If the daemon is still working just add the 2 mime files and restart cups and avahi (and...
ok. thanks, that means that using the pdftopdf as a filter should also work ...
Only strange that urf:none works here ....
LOL, I only installed ubuntu 2 weeks ago, build a multi media NAS (with plex media server on it), so who's the new user?
No problem helping out where I can, when I'm stuck I also appreciate people...
I updated the conv file only the image/urf application/pdf 100 pdftoraster is really required. That should remove the 3 errors in the log (but that's not a real issue)
the airprint service file...
I removed the AirPrint-deamon, also had issues sometimes that it didn't run. creating/generating the service files with the python script is as easy (not that you add printers daily) :-)
#restart service cups:
sudo service cups restart
#check status
sudo service cups status
#= when you run (which you should already have done in the past) airprint-generate.py new...
Seems similar from what I did, except urf is sent to pdftops
======= found it ===========
== updated instructions added more details ==
== and only added the really needed lines ==
it's easy
you need to create 2 files under
/usr/share/cups/mime
apt-get can't find the package (first guess is that I'm running 64 bits)
but been looking further on my mac ..... maybe this gives some ideas ....
seems I have a new or altered filter...
Can't find any other discussion on this (and therefore no possible solution)
org.cups.printers.plist
got changed with AirPrint
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN"...
Same problem It is however something that was fixed for MAC OSX AirPrint activator http://netputing.com/airprintactivator/airprint-activator-v3-0/. I quickly tried it on my mac and the problem...
