Sabayon is a fine Linux distribution, they work hard at it, I have run Sabayon, but I always return to Ubuntu. Sabayon 5 is way old Not much more to say.

If you pick install from the LiveCD it will walk you through the install and it will even do the resizing of the partition. Its very simple and easy to understand.

You might want to try the alterative install, I have had some computers that would not install from the Livecd but installed fine from the alterative iso.
