    Re: Linux 3.10 - rc1

    Sorry if I'm confused.

Where is the non-virtual package for image-extra? Has it simply not been built yet?

    Getting that as well.

    Where's the usual linux-headers-[blah]-all ?

    Re: Is CIFS broken?

HOSTNAME is a windows hostname. It is properly looked up, and the same thing happens when I manually specify the ip instead of the hostname in the share path.

./tmp is a local directory. It spits...

'smbfs' was replaced by 'cifs-utils' which is definitely installed.

    Is CIFS broken?

    https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=832741

I found this. Seems potentially relevant. I'm trying the following:

    sudo mount.cifs -o user=USER,password=PASS //HOSTNAME/media ./tmp
    ...
  6. PulseAudio/Flash: Playback is too fast.

So, I noticed the characters of 30 Rock sounding pretty weird last night on Hulu. Today, I noticed the same issue on Pandora. After using a timer, I determined that YouTube/Hulu and others are...

    Re: Can't edit top panel.

gnome-tweak-tool is fine. The new unity tweak tool (I don't know it's name) is probably fine. I, and many others, recommend against using "ubuntu tweak".

Are you talking about nvidia-318.26 ?
  9. Re: Can't install Raring as the installation hangs on the partitioner

This is a very frustrating bug. I've asked repeatedly for help debugging it, I'm willing to sit there with GDB and ubiquity on my machine if someone would help me know what to look for.

    Re: sudo apt-get install gnome*

In terms of this topic itself, it would be a reminder to not blindly run commands on your machine. For example, if hundreds of packages are about to be removed, it might be worth considering what...

    Re: /usr/bin/krandrstartup gone, breaks KDE

No problem at all, thanks for the quick reply with solution! I assume the kde-workspace-bin package will be updated to include a dependency on that?

Gr. Turned on Proposed. Got the kernel that will boot my computer. Few hours later, broke my DE. All in a day's fun testing.

    /usr/bin/krandrstartup gone, breaks KDE

Hm, is this because I turned on proposed?

kde-workspace-bin seems to have removed /usr/bin/krandrstartup but /usr/bin/startkde relies on it.
  14. Re: Who wants to test wayland on raring after 5 years of development?

I believe Maui is adopting SDDM soon and should offer a login and desktop compositor for a full Wayland experience.

WHAT? Since when does Chromium support Wayland? I had *no* idea. Very exciting!

Also, it's almost surely because of this: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTI3MDY

I know how to remove "quiet nosplash", I put them there to debug the boot problems, and because it looks dumb anyway because of nvidia's mucking with the tty resolution.

Yup, my desktop still doesn't boot with -11.

    Last thing I get is:

My MBA 2012 does not boot with the -10 kernel as well. I'm checking my desktop in the next half hour.
