Ok how can i make vmware reconise a usb?

I am using vmware and i installed ubuntu on it and it cannot pick up and of my usb's or anything.

I explanied it over there that i dont know how to use the function if the user is not on the same forum,i am only trying to help people.

Because I no it anit the disc and I don't want to download another one for no reason. If that is the final solution then I will but I really doubt that is why.

Thanks it is a iso file but i dont know where i downloaded from linux.com or something.

I have downloaded the file and extracted it.
Now i am going to copy and paste this file is my windows xp computer that i am going to make in to a ubuntu so how do i install it?
