i think you can install it from Synaptic (System>>Administration>>Synaptic)
search for mono, then install package you want

for a while ago i use captive from suse 10.0 which works great for writing on ntfs....
now i dont need it as i ve changed all my HD to fat

but when i try to install deb package (easycam2) i got these :
