  1. [ubuntu] Re: libreoffice misbehaving--is it lo or 22.04

Strange. It works fine on my xubuntu (22.10) machine with LO 7.4.2.3 from the ubuntu repositories (except last position of course).
I thought there would be more answers in the ubuntu forum. You can...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: libreoffice misbehaving--is it lo or 22.04

I mean that the document opens with the cursor in the header at the top of the page. That selects all the headers at once. When they are active, try to scroll you will notice that the speed is...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: libreoffice misbehaving--is it lo or 22.04

Not sure if a macro could do that. I know that with a macro you can change the template on which a file is based for example. So maybe the cursor position can be stored the same way. I've not checked...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: libreoffice misbehaving--is it lo or 22.04

I have seen something similar: on old documents opened by LO, it goes straight to the last cursor position as intended. However, as soon as I save the file with a newer version, then the position is...
  5. [ubuntu] Re: libreoffice misbehaving--is it lo or 22.04

Rather weird for most of your issues.
I tested on 7.2 and 7.4 and it works fine for the multi selection to open files (xubuntu 22.10, ubuntu packaged version for 7.4). What I discovered however is...
  6. [SOLVED] Re: Xsane not available anymore in Gimp 2.10

    Excellent, you're a lifesaver Holger!
Using sane instead of xsane did the trick.
    Many thanks!
  7. [SOLVED] Xsane not available anymore in Gimp 2.10

    Hi All,

Several discussions on the net but no answer found yet...
Fresh install of Xubuntu 22.04, fresh profile of Gimp 2.10 and Xsane 0.999 installed as well.
The device dialog option in File >...
  8. Re: Autocorrect not working in LibreOffice

Weird, in the screenshots I've provided on the AskLO site, there is a difference but not that big.
  9. Re: Autocorrect not working in LibreOffice

Indeed. The issue with the autocorrect feature is a new one I think. In the past, it was mostly a rendering issue.
    See also this discussion:...
  10. Re: Autocorrect not working in LibreOffice

Try to launch from terminal: SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen soffice
It will use the x11 plugin instead of the gtk3. It will look different but all should work fine.
  11. Re: Autocorrect not working in LibreOffice

Personally, I use the VCL=gen plugin (x11) and it works fine (LO 7.1.2.2 on Xubuntu Hirsute).

    Re: Home directory

Personally, I keep the /home in the same partition as /.
However, my data are on a separate partition and they are linked with symlinks that I put in my user profile.

The point being that when I...
  16. Re: Can't open .pptx files with LibreOffice ...

Rather weird that it cannot be opened. It has to contain very complex layout.
Can you ask someone who managed to open it to send it again to you (or as a backup a PDF export of it)?
    If the file is...

    Re: Thunderbird rollback to 68.12.0

Indeed, better make a backup of the profile in case there is an issue and you end up keeping the most recent version.
Nonetheless, if your accounts use IMAP, at least the content is easily restored....

    Re: Thunderbird rollback to 68.12.0

You can deinstall TB and then download the version you want from the https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/ link (go to /pub/thunderbird/releases/68.12.1/ and then your architecture and...
  19. [SOLVED] Re: Libreoffice English uk thesaurus not working

Well, I would not say it's a bug. It's just that nobody has provided a relevant thesaurus file to be included in the packages (be it the Mythes for Ubuntu or the AOO/LO English "standard" dictionary...
  20. Re: 20.04 LTS - .To Partition or not Partition?

I've a slightly version of grahammechanical way: I've 2 partitions for / and I keep the /home in / (no dedicated partition). However, my data are in another dedicated partition (in fact I've more...
  21. [SOLVED] Re: Libreoffice English uk thesaurus not working

OMG, there is a Scottish Gaelic Spellchecker, tons of exotic other flavors and no one dared to provide a good extension for en_UK???
Why isn't this extension (from weeklywhinge.com) provided in the...
  22. [SOLVED] Re: Libreoffice English uk thesaurus not working

I tried the method provided by tea for one and it worked fine. Even if there is no green check mark, you can access the thesaurus for UK.
I also tried to install the latest EN dictionary extension...
  23. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu installer is only detecting SSD partition from my hybrid disk drive.

Ah, indeed. Never heard of RST/AHCI before. I should have checked the parted -l result also.
  24. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu installer is only detecting SSD partition from my hybrid disk drive.

I've a similar configuration with a 128GiB SSD and a 1TiB HDD. I've reduced my Windows 10 partition to 70GiB so that I've 2x30GiB partitions for my GNU/Linux distros. And the data are on the HDD...
  25. [SOLVED] Re: Libreoffice English uk thesaurus not working

I don't understand, it works fine on my Xubuntu machine (see my screenshot).
    Where is the bug?
