Elementary Luna with Cairo Dock, Conky, and updated lts-raring 3.8 kernel...
You can get rid of the Anchor Icon / Settings Launcher with Gconf-Editor... Install it and go to apps/docky2/items/docky item and uncheck the box that says 'show docky item'... Or at least you can...
Glad to see the forums are back up! I don't know anyone IRL who even cares that Linux even exists. :(

Mint / Cinnamon...
Didn't know that Jupiter was left out to dry... I will try this 'TLP' you speak of on my Asus K52F.
Thanx for the tip, y'all.
Laptop... Still Xubuntu 12.04. After more than a year with this install, I may be an LTS devotee now.
Thanx. Think I found it on Wallbase under 'Star Trek'. On a different PC right now or I'd share.
Still Crunch bangin'...
Probably 5 or so the first few months, lol... Once or twice since then. Now in my 3rd year of Linux use.
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade might upgrade the non-upgraded package for ya there...

Puppy is RAD! I've got an old Dell Dimension 4500S / Pentuim 4 / 2G RAM with no Graphics Card that runs amazingly with Racy 5.5. Had MacPup on a Compaq Evo N115 'til it gave up the ghost.

I think the rats would take over and evolve into a sentient, warlike species... They'd be like us except with pointier features and worse breath. Oh, and fur.

Finally Got around to trying Crunchbang 11. I'm pretty sure it's love.
Still have Xubuntu on the laptop, though.

Linux Mint.
Preference. That's all. They both get things done just fine, but Linux in general just gives you more accessible options. I think it's more fun.
I'd go to Crunchbang. Maybe even say 'F' it all and just run Puppy all the time.
Had an odd freeze - bug with Chrome Stable on 12.04... It would freeze if I minimized a non-fullscreen window, esp. when watching video. Cleared up after a week or so.
Still 12.04 - Hooked through the cheek on Cinnamon.
Try 'sudo apt-get -f install' ... It's magically fixed a good few problems for me.
I add a couple for some themes and icons, Google Chrome, etc... Prob 5 or so currently. Have used others / more in the past with no problems.
