Actually I have just used "sudo apt-get remove pulseaudio", and thought that it uninstalled pulse. I can only start Jack up after running the command, and am only able to get sound from firefox after...
I open it from the applications menu. I've tried to 'sudo qjackctl', which seems to let it start, but then ardour won't open correctly (and it seems to shut down other apps as well, like firefox).
I'm trying to get a DAW up and running but have run into an issue. I have some trouble getting Jack to start. At first the trouble seemed to have something to do with the server, but after changing...

I recently bought a TRENDnet TEW-648UB wireless adaptor but I can't seem to get it to work. When I plug it in the light on the 'WPS button' flashes, but nothing else happens. Does anyone know if...
That`s kinda what`s bugging me as well. I`ve tried to do a clean install, but it tells me that there`s a problem with the HD. The fdisk says

As I woke up this morning my laptop had went black screen. So I rebooted, or at least tried to. I can get to the grub screen, and choose either ubuntu or xp, but none of them seems to want to let me...

I haven't had any problems with sound so far, but after I plugged in a messed up iPod, sound has disappeared from my system. Instead of the normal sound, I get a vague crackling sound. What can I do...
I'm trying to get a stream from a radiostation working, that is streamed via mms. I can get it to work through vlc, but as I prefer Banshee for music, I need to get it working in that as well. The...
Thanks. It seems to work now :)
Ehm. I'm not sure what the su - command is doing?
By the way, my fstab is
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.

# Use 'vol_id --uuid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more...
I have my fstap to mount a HD partition on boot. This works fine, but it is owned by root, and is set to not let other users edit or create files. I can't (even when using 'sudo nautilus') change the...
You have to open the xine-ui (you might need to install it from synaptec), there you can go to settings and there's a tap called GUI.
This worked for me as well. Thanks a lot, I was about to go crazy over this :D
Thanks
On my laptop I have split my HD into several partitions and would like to have one of the mount automatically when I boot. How do I do that?
Since my installation had gotten a lot slower since the upgrade and I had all kinds of little problems, I decided to make a clean install.
This seems to have solved my problems.
I don't know why...
That seems to not have been it. After pushing 'log out' I got a black screen. After a reset instead of the normal log in screen I still just got blackness. So I went back to how it was before.
Any...

After upgrading from 8.10, I have had problems using video players (VLC in particular). As long as it's just playing, everything is fine, but as soon, as any other graphic changes (like pidgin...
