  1. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 12.04, rhythmbox as DLNA (UPnP) client

If you're using Rygel, there is a plugin you can install on Rhythmbox for better integration on the UI. Check it out: http://code.google.com/p/rhythmpnp/
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 12.04, rhythmbox as DLNA (UPnP) client

    Hi Mac9.
Yes, I've installed Rygel, and works fine, but its a SERVER. What we want to acocmplish here is to use Rythmbox as a media CLIENT. On previous versions that was done using a Coherence...

Re: New Ubuntu Design Overhaul is reality!!!

I somehow agree with @airtonix, but I still think that design is an important part of Ubuntu identity, besides any post-customization the user can do. However, totally agree that what I really want...
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Jaunty - Liferea slow when updating/navigating feeds

Same problem here. I read in the bug report that perhaps is related to Liferea + ext4. Are you guys all using ext4?

BTW, for a very good reader I can recommend BRIEF Firefox add-on.

    [ubuntu] Re: Total Commander ???

There are currently no tools in par of Total Commander´s full set of features.
Besides, there are a bunch of quite similar projects.

    In order of (personal) relevance:
    Krusader (for KDE)...

[ubuntu] Re: Dying to Escape Apple's Grip!

Oh, btw, seems that some people are using Blender as linear video edition tool. Blender is a 3D animation tool, but it has a built in video editor. I don't know how good it is but you can give it a...

[ubuntu] Re: Dying to Escape Apple's Grip!

The main problem you're going to face on Linux is the lack of proprietary software.
If you're thinking on replace professional apps with Open Source ones you must understand what you're giving in...

[ubuntu] Re: Is Ubuntu going Forwards or Backwards?

The fact is that this is something that Canonical must address sooner or later, at least if they want to keep the idea of a all-users-desktop-linux, because I don't see any warning no notices...

Poll: Re: Are you ready to buy native Linux games?

As in music, if I like something, I want to have the original. Many modern games have in fact a very good packaging and art, and if the game really passionate me, that´s an attractive plus.

[ubuntu] Re: Firebox Browser Occupies Entire Screen

    Try this:
Start Firefox and push F11 key, this will get back the title bar.
To avoid Firefox to open up on fullscreen again, push the restore button (the contrary to maximize), shrink the window a...

    Re: How Secure is Ubuntu..?

A lot of good answers but perhaps I can contribute with this to anyone reading this thread:

What Ubuntu has as a Linux OS is a strong security scheme based on permissions and users. You can't toy...

[ubuntu] Re: Where is the OTHER terminal ?

[ubuntu] Re: Why is Firefox so damn sluggish on Ubuntu

Half of the problem could be sqlite. I'll wait for 3.1 to see if they improved the code.
  17. [ubuntu] Re: How to install Ubuntu on a computer with no CD and no Floppy?

As far as I know this should work, I mean, you should be capable to boot into the Live distro using the USB stick. Take a look at the Bios, sometimes the USB must be the primeray boot device to work.
  18. Re: New project Grdc (GTK+/Gnome Remote Desktop Client) - will it compiles in Ubuntu?

Congrats for the project. I also use terminal server quite frequently and some the annoyances you complain are really there and they are... well, annoying :P

[ubuntu] Re: Why is Firefox so damn sluggish on Ubuntu

FF 3.0 is not behaving well on any platform. Part of the blame can be addressed to the sqlite implementation, which seems to be improved on 3.1.
On Linux you have also a slow video response,...
