I confirm the wrong entry in my default list. After 15 years of Ubuntu I have found my first bug! But not of course the solution which is down to you guys. Thanks again to both of you!

Yes! That worked, obviously substituting Rhythmbox for Totem. Many thanks for your help. I will mark this as solved.
Didn't I do that in post #18?
The last sentence of that post makes no sense as post #17 was edited afterwards.
Thanks MAFoElffen

Thanks coffeecat, now updated.
A bit more information on my problem. I have a spare computer also running Ubuntu 22.10 (soon to be upgraded to 23.04 for fun). Until today I had no media files on...
Ubuntu 22.10. I don't seem to be able to add the current version to my signature.
Thanks for your interest anyway! My version is indeed 43.0 with which I have other issues. Perhaps another thread.
I see as attached. Note that I am unable to disable "Always use for this file type"

@coley9225
It wasn't a silly question! Following advice from the Acer Community Forum I did just that and it worked. For anybody else who has this issue, the f12 boot option has to be enabled in...
Hi oldfred
Thank you for looking into this.There are very few settings that can be changed.
Under Main there is date/time, wake from LAN, D2D recovery, function key behaviour, a couple of...
@ActionParsnip

I have a new Windows 11 Acer Swift 3 SF314-511 laptop (i5, 8GB,500GB). I wish to set up a dual boot system with Ubuntu. The 'BIOS' setup utility (InsydeH20) looks fairly normal but under the Boot...
I will mark this as solved as I have a more serious problem - there is no option in BIOS to change the boot sequence. I'll start a new thread for this.
Thanks TheFu. I'll have to read up on LVM!
Thanks Oldfred. I like to have a separate /home as it makes upgrades from iso so much easier. I don't need to link Firefox as I will hardly use the Windows o/s at all. I only need it for itunes and...
I am about to install 22.04 as a dual boot system on a single user Win 11 Acer Swift 3 (i5, 8GB, 500GB). I intend to use shared data in an NTFS data partition which will be most of the drive. I like...
If I was managing a dozen machines I would probably do as you do, stick to the LTS, download the iso once and upgrade the lot. It's a bit different for a reasonably tech-savvy single user. Anyway,...
Well I've been an Ubuntu user since Gutsy Gibbon and that's not been my experience. I do a clean install every couple of years or so, usually when upgrading hardware. I have issues of course but...
I ran 20.04 with a live USB stick for an hour or so with no problem. Not conclusive but it's pointing to a software problem. Back in 21.04 I have disabled Sticky Keys so I'll see how that goes
