There are several error on red flashing by when boot.

The original post was about UNetbootin and since then I tested two or three more such programs and have achieved save of changes on USB sticks.
But it fail to work on NTFS in frugal install...
Ulteo linux maybe is a special case. The first OS doesn't really shut down like a boot loader would?

Yes I had Ubuntu in wubi just a few hours ago. But have uninstalled it. Yes I have Vbox and have tested solaris and many others in it.

Yes and to save changes is not so easy. Slackware linux variants seems to be able to using unionfs save files but Debian seems to do things in a different ways them not using unionfs files at all??? ...
