I tried to follow the how-to but ran into a problem. When I tried the command
sudo apt-get source -b vim I got this error:
dpkg-checkbuilddeps: Unmet build dependencies: dpkg-dev (>= 1.13.19)...

I can confirm that changing the WDB folder to Read-Only fixed the problem for me. Thanks for the help.
