    Re: Nexuiz ati radeon help

Nope. Provided you have a r300g compatible chip (r5xx and earlier), you only need to update your packages with the ppa.

    Re: Nexuiz ati radeon help

For r300g in Ubuntu you donīt. If you use the xorg-edgers ppa, thatīs the default driver it installs (they donīt package r300c anymore). For r600g you do need to configure some files.

    Re: Nexuiz ati radeon help

With the r300g driver (Gallium3D) you get OpenGL2.1 compared to OpenGL1.5 with the "classic" drivers (what Ubuntu loads by default). Granted, GLSL (what most 3D intensive Linux games use for eye...

    Re: Nexuiz ati radeon help

Last time I tried Nexuiz with that chip under Windows, it actually ended up being playable; same settings, but was able to get upwards of 20fps. Mind you that was a long time ago and on an older...

    Re: Nexuiz ati radeon help

I got a RS480 here (also a Xpress 200M chip). The latest Nexuiz does work, but incredibly slow (even at 800x600 on low details); 20fps max, though for most of the game I get 5-10fps. Mind you I...

    Re: Onlive Linux Support Campain!!!

Onlive would be one of the last things you would want on Linux. The stuff is even worse than WINE when it comes to Linux games (technical, philosophical, or any other reason you can think of). In...

Poll: Re: HowTo: Installing and using KernelCheck

After I discovered the kernel ppa I stopped using kernelcheck, but I have gone back to it due to the recent ppa packages not playing nice with my laptop for some reason. Like the new interface, even...

  12. [ubuntu] Re: No hardware drivers for ATI Radeon X850XT (I want to take advantage of my video c

Check the command glxinfo to see if you got 3d acceleration:

    glxinfo | grep "renderer string"

That should come back with something mentioning DRI and Mesa. If it says anything about software...
  13. [ubuntu] Re: No hardware drivers for ATI Radeon X850XT (I want to take advantage of my video c

Your card is no longer supported by current driver versions. The last driver release to work with the card is 9.3, which won't work on Ubuntu newer than 9.04. If you want to use newer versions of...

It is DRM. In fact, you can call it "hardware DRM". That little modem thingy you have to get for the service? Yeah, that's it right there.
As for the technical aspects of it, I doubt they will be...

    Re: Nexuiz and GPL nexuiz?

So, is Alientrap now working with/for IllFonic? I don't get how the console project is now "their new" project. The core Nexuiz team at Alientrap is still there to freely work on the original...

    Re: Nexuiz and GPL nexuiz?

Did they "sell" the name? What I read from their site is that they simply agreed for the new Nexuiz to use their domain and name for image and identification purposes, so it's more like "borrowing"....

The latest driver has issues with composition. Turn it off and you should be fine, or downgrade to the 10.1 driver.

Make sure you're installing all three packages: libva1, libva1-dbg, libva-dev. Use the latest version, which is sds10.

    [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 + Ati 3870

Provided the driver is properly installed, check /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Your vRAM size will be listed there. If you don't want to muck around the log, you can just type the following in a terminal:

  23. Re: lgfxgearss, a new alternative to the famous glxgears demo
