[SOLVED] Re: Trouble installing Canon LBP 3100 Printer

I just got one of these printers with 12.04. Some comments about getting it setup.

    1) Rather than overwriting that 70-printers.rules, just remove the package system-config-printer-udev so that it...
  2. Re: mythtv-backend installs on remote frontends ver .27

mythtv-dbg was intentionally made a "Recommends". This causes it to be installed by default with most APT tools but can be removed. It can also be prevented from being installed with...

Oh this is interesting, is everyone affected having the problem only with mythwelcome? I think mythwelcome intentionally tries to be the app behind other apps. Mythfrontend should be in front...

Re: How to get Update Manager to be quiet?

The intended behavior is that it's supposed to be popping up "behind" mythfrontend not in front. Can those affected please file a bug at

    Re: constant error message /usr/bin/jockey-text

Even though it's the 304 version it's the same error. That's because the 304 version is what's in the APT cache.

The original problem is fixed, so once you update to the newer version of Jockey...
  6. Re: Jan 13 23:32:31 mythub mythtv-setup[2647]:Can't download lineup from schedules di

Marc, yeah that's the autobuilds repo. Just use update manager to check for updates and run them now.
  7. Re: Is it possible to link two Mythbuntu boxes in different locations together?

In an ideal world with good enough bandwidth you're right. But the upload on both of my connections won't be enough to handle streaming a recording over the web.
  8. Re: Jan 13 23:32:31 mythub mythtv-setup[2647]:Can't download lineup from schedules di

I believe it could be fixed by this commit:

    https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/commit/bcc459fa2893f65c1debe9a7f976d3c23e865531

It's in autobuilds updates. So pull the updates from autobuilds and...

I actually just published a blog post on exactly this topic.

I have two homes and only pay for cable in one of them. ...

    Re: constant error message /usr/bin/jockey-text

If you are encountering constant crashes with jockey-text, can you please take a look in /var/crash for a crash report? it should say what's up.

We don't install "whoopsie" by default in...

Re: MythTV packages are broken on my Ubuntu 12.04

OK since that isn't showing more information what you'll need to do is modify /var/lib/dpkg/info/mythtv-common.postinst.

    On the third line add:

    set -x

So it will look like this:

Re: MythTV packages are broken on my Ubuntu 12.04

So the log you are looking for is /var/log/apt/term.log actually. It should show some more information about exact failures.

Re: MythTV packages are broken on my Ubuntu 12.04

Is there anything more informative about what's failing in your upgrade logs?

There is generally something higher up. Provide a full transcript if possible.

Adding the repository just uses the command add-apt-repository.

  17. Re: Fresh install of 12.04 hangs on "stopping save kernel messages"

Re: "HTTP Live Streaming" Feature in MythTV 0.25

Re: Cannot run live cd 12.04 - boots okay

If you don't want to wipe your box, it is possible to actually run the backend off the live CD, but you will need to manually do a few things:

    1) Mount a hard disk or large USB disk.
    2) Copy the...

  21. [SOLVED] Re: dependency issue with mythweb 0.25 on 10.04?

I think you might have caught some PPA skew that happens from time to time when the amd64 builds lag the i386 builds. It looks like the amd64 build caught up though now.

Re: AMD video acceleration (mythbuntu 12.04)

    1)
So I haven't actually used it before - but you need to install "xvba-va-driver". It's the AMD VA API driver package. I don't believe it's pulled in by default.

    2) NVIDIA's VDPAU video...

    Re: Mythbuntu + XBMC

It's worth noting that XBMC is directly available in 12.04 now. So no need to muck with their PPA if you are on 12.04.
