I just followed the instructions and updated the firmware. It has given me massive improvement on my Gazelle when it comes to fan usage.
Xubuntu last PPC is 10.04 and MintPPC is no longer supported as well. Lubuntu and Ubuntu-MATE will no longer make PPC so 16.04 is the last LTS release.
weird that the kernel identifies your wireless as eth1 instead of wlan0. Try running this command nmtui-connect. A ncurses interface should appear and list your available networks. See if you can...
Can you post your dmesg output? When you do mark it as code so it will be easier to read.
Thanks
Well the kernel does not see your wireless controller. What model is this PowerBook?
can you give us the output of lspci -vvvv? I have a PowerBook and an iBook and wireless is working on both.
try running this commands
modprobe -r b43
modprobe b43
Wireless should be working after that.
You can read it here. I would not be surprised to see this in Ubuntu-MATE as well.
I received a new fan from system76 and have seen a significant improvement
Gentoo works my PB as well
I am not surprised this is happening.
I know about the toggle, but it is annoying that I have to use every 10-15 min. I have been monitoring my temps. Even when running VMs the CPUs to go above 50. Even last night I closed all my apps...
I just perchased a Gazelle from System76. I have had for a few days and two things I noticed right away.
1. The fans often even when idle. I can use Fn+1 to turn it off but sometimes they come...
try with this boot parmaeter
live radeon.agpmode=-1
I have a PowerBook G4 and it is running Lubuntu 16.10 right now. I would recommend 16.04. It runs well.
I have a business meeting...damn
try
sudo modprobe snd-aoa-i2sbus
Then run the command alsamixer and set the PCM Channel to 70.
Hope that helps!
I know there has been discussions in Lubuntu on dropping PPC as well. No decision has been made yet.
I am browsing the web right now on FF 49 in Debian. So far no issues.
I am not sure if there is also a software component as well. On my PowerMac if I run Debian the GPU default to PCI mode and turns off hw acceleration. Here is my kernel log so you can see it. There...
Yes FF 49 is available in Debian Sid for PPC 47 for PPC64

So I have also tested this solution on my PowerMac G4 Dual 1.25 Ghz MDD running Debian Stretch. It has Radeon 9000 card (r200). This card always freezes when I try to use hw accleration even when I...
Here is the card listed in Xorg.0.log
[ 45.944] (--) RADEON(0): Chipset: "ATI Radeon 9600 AP (AGP)" (ChipID = 0x4150)
Here is my dmesg
I have debian sid on my iBook and FF working fine there. My G5 is on lubuntu 16.10 and I needed to install midori to get a browser.
