    [ubuntu] Re: System sporadically freezes

It's always good idea to run the memtest from the install CD when this sort of thing happens just to eliminate bad memory from being the cause. Another common cause is overheating.

[kubuntu] Re: Muon Software Center crashes at launch

Yes, I installed Kubuntu after viewing several mixed reviews. Some suggested it was poor and that Kubuntu is not kept up as well as Ubuntu, others suggested it was fine and rivaled Opensuse's KDE. ...

I know the Gentoo vs Ubuntu discussion is not the original topic but I thought I'd put my two cents in. I've been a Gentoo and Arch user for the past three years. I've also dabbled with Slackware...

[all variants] Pidgin (ICQ) How do I block Spam?

Re: Internal player uses only one core.

You can get a Nvidia 8400 GS PCI (Not PCI-E) from Tiger direct (among others). It supports VDPAU feature set B. I believe the Nvidia 9400 is also available as a PCI (Not PCI-E) card as well...

  14. [ubuntu] Re: Hard Drive abuse by Karmic (usually when using firefox/chrome)

I know on Karmic he can go to System -> Administration -> Disk Utility where it should indicate the health of the hard drive using the S.M.A.R.T. status. Pretty neat utility.

[ubuntu] Re: Please help me I'm desperate

    1. Disable Wireless.
    2. Wait five seconds.
    3. Disable Networking....

    [SOLVED] Re: Should I upgrade
