    Re: debian lenny/stable is pointless

    I'm still using Debian Etch, despite Lenny having been out for a while. Its as solid as a rock and I get the security updates. Might update to squeeze when it's released.

    Re: IQ and intelligence

    What is intelligence? What makes you intelligence? Is it creativity, wisdom, problem solving, knowledge, personality, judgement? If an alien visited Earth how could we tell if it was intelligence?...

    Re: present for a girl?

    Firstly don't stereotype girls. They don't all like flowers, chocolates and smelly stuff, some do and would love a bunch of roses but others want something different.

    Couple of general things:

    Re: universal socket library

    C++ Sockets Library, has good documentation and works on Linux and Windows.
  11. Re: execute command with execlp() and pipe to tcp socket

    Check the return value of the recv() call more thoroughly because recv() will return when data has been received of any length up to the buffer length. It's probably unlikely for a recv() to...

    Re: Has Ubuntu become bloatware aka MS

    Got tried of Ubuntu and short release cycles so tried Debian. It feels lighter, quicker and very stable. I never had any major problems with Ubuntu, but Debian suits my needs better. As for lightness...
  13. Poll: Re: Lets make an Ubuntu responce to the Windows Ads

    IMO Ubuntu doesn't need an advert, as someone said before it creates false expectations. Ubuntu I think would benefits more for recommendations from friends and family, people that are trusted. Much...

    Re: I'm going to London for a few days.

    I'd agree, but I'm bias because of where I live. You should also try and get outside of London and see other parts of the UK. Just visiting London (like many tourists) only really shows a narrow view...

    [ubuntu] Re: 95% of 768mb of mem full at boot???

    Linux uses more memory to cache programs and files that you might need. Therefore you can quickly access those program when necessary. There is no point leaving memory free and wasting it.

    Perfect stealth, although I'm behind two routers, so I'm not sure how that effects this test. My guess is only the first router is being tested.
  21. Re: C++ Sockets - send() problem !

    I wouldn't use TCP packets to act as a delimiter of commands. Each command is having to be wrapped and sent, even then big commands will have to span two or more packets. You may want to define a...

  23. Re: Multi-Threaded code only runs on one core?

    Correct me I'm wrong, but isn't the scheduling of threads up to the OS, and therefore the OS could decide to run a multi-threaded process on a single core. The OS could also decide to split the...

    Re: C++ Trouble

    Memory management is still incorrect because delete[] is used to free memory allocated with strndup(). strndup() uses malloc internally and therefore free() should be used to deallocate memory.
