    Re: PulseAudio Equalizer Script

The scratchy sound when changing volume is a byproduct of PulseAudio's LADSPA plugin, and my script can't really fix that, sorry.

    Re: PulseAudio Equalizer Script

No offense, but running as root is pure insanity. If you're new to Ubuntu, I recommend you stop using root and do some research into how user permisisons work on Unix-based systems. If you're aware...

Re: HOWTO: PulseAudio Fixes & System-Wide Equalizer Support

No worries ;). I just noticed that I only mentioned Karmic in Appendix D; I'll update it to clear up any confusion that others may also have.

Re: HOWTO: PulseAudio Fixes & System-Wide Equalizer Support

If you've installed the equalizer from the separate thread (here), you shouldn't follow any part of Appendix D in this guide - they will conflict. Appendix D should be considered as obsolete due to...

    Re: PulseAudio Equalizer Script

Installing the equalizer will not modify PulseAudio's default configuration files until you click the "Keep Settings" checkmark in the interface. Unchecking that box will restore PulseAudio to its...

    Re: PulseAudio Equalizer Script

    Thanks for the information.

This is normal and required for the equalizer to work properly. When the equalizer is enabled, a new PulseAudio LADSPA sink (virtual output device) is created, and the...

    Re: PulseAudio Equalizer Script

It's a small packaging bug that affects people who don't use GNOME (as the application uses a GNOME icon). You can fix it by doing one of the following:

    (ideally) install the package...

    Re: PulseAudio Equalizer Script

The interface already has the capability of using other LADSPA plugins if you feed it a customized preset file, but there are some limitations due to the way that I designed the GUI, and also due...

    Re: PulseAudio Equalizer Script

The equalizer won't work on Jaunty unless you manage to upgrade your version of PulseAudio to 0.9.19 or newer (and no, I'm not aware of anywhere which offers such packages for Jaunty).

Re: HOWTO: Jaunty Intel Graphics Performance Guide

Are you asking because you want to follow the guide, or because you already followed the guide? You can't upgrade from Jaunty -> Lucid, as it's not possible to skip distributions (well, you can...

    Re: PulseAudio Equalizer Script

I don't understand... there is no setup required. All you can do is create a new preset... and to do that requires your own ears, not mine.
  13. Poll: Re: Canonical needs to devote more developers, time and resources to Kubuntu

Are you serious? What you're describing is the current status quo. Kubuntu is a second-class citizen, and the KDE packages are maintained by a very small group of developers.
  14. Poll: Re: Canonical needs to devote more developers, time and resources to Kubuntu

KDE 4.4.2 is a lot different to KDE 4.0 (which wasn't ready for mass consumption, and shouldn't have been released in distributions). Also, to call KDE a memory hog suggests that you're parroting...
  15. Poll: Re: Canonical needs to devote more developers, time and resources to Kubuntu

Before anybody dismisses the OP as trolling or becomes overly-defensive, keep in mind that the Kubuntu developers are in consensus with autumnraine (more or less*). Within the Ubuntu community, KDE...

    [ubuntu] Re: PulseAudio Issues

The equalizer actually can cause this problem (if you're using the "Keep Settings" option).

Re: HOWTO: Jaunty Intel Graphics Performance Guide

No, this guide doesn't need to be updated for Karmic (or especially for Lucid, which is still in alpha status). The drivers shipped with Jaunty were unusually slow, which warranted this guide.

  22. [ubuntu] Re: How do I install Lucid's new Light theme on Karmic?

As well as "ubuntu-mono", you also need to grab the latest gtk2-engines-murrine package. Without the newer murrine engine, the theme will probably work - but widgets will not be themed correctly (as...

    Re: PulseAudio Equalizer Script

    Run:

    $ pulseaudio-equalizer debug

Attach the log so I can see.

You can then run the equalizer, choose "Reset to defaults" from the Advanced menu to get sound working again.
