If you haven't already, have a look at unison. Awesome command-line app - works seamlessly over SSH.

Really? :) I actually just wanted to make a list for myself! And thought, what better place to put it? I can add another one too - Remuco. Awesome plugin, works great with Rhythmbox!
1) Firefox
2) Bibble (for photos - expensive but amazing)
3) Rhythmbox
4) CompizConfig settings manager (I never knew just what Compiz was capable of till I found this!)
5) Webilder (desktop...
Photography kept me dual-booting for a long time, but I have finally switched completely over to Ubuntu, thanks to a wonderful programme called Bibble. It's the only serious RAW converter I've found...
Try placing the displays one on top of the other, rather than next to each other. That way you should be able to stay within Compiz's 2048x2048 virtual display max. resolution. Just literally drag...
"BIOS and System Update Downloads" category ... and you were wondering whether or not it was legitimate?
I just wish I'd got there in time to leave a review :(

Great news, thanks again.

Thanks tehhaxorr,
This is the laptop a friend and I are both looking to get, also incidentally on a recommendation! Glad to hear it works in Ubuntu. Could you tell me what version you use?
Thanks...
I don't mean to sound smug, but I've never had a problem with using the soundcard for other tasks and Wengo at the same time, in fact I've even used it to play people music I've downloaded recently...
Perhaps turn the argument to a more hardware-based point - have you ever watched how hard your DVD drive works in Windows trying to play a disc, then played that same disc in Ubuntu? I lost a hard...
Does anyone else take issue with the fact that they want to edit your document in the first place? Since when is evidence editable?

Oh I don't think it hinders its growth - if anything it's a talking point!
Mike
Thanks for the heads-up. And that would explain why people use "an" before the word, rather than "a".
Mike
Jentoo, yes, perfect sense. But Ubuntu? I say:
"You - bun - too", if you see what I mean, with the stress on the "bun".
Mike
While we're on pronunciation then, why does Ubuntu take "an" rather than "a" - do you all say OObuntu or YOUbuntu?
And I pronounce Gentoo like the penguin:
(Thanks Wikipedia :-) )

Here's mine - unoriginal I know, yet another OSX rip-off, but I like it :-)
"kwin-baghira" makes this very easy for anyone interested.

Okay here is one solution, but it's a complete cop-out: go back to Dapper's 0.39 version from the repos. It's even harder to configure, but atleast it doesn't even try to do real transparency, so no...
Hi,
Go to:
gconf-editor -> apps -> panel -> toplevels -> <PANEL_NAME> (e.g. bottom panel).
Click on this folder, there should appear several values in the opposite pane:
change the ones I...
Having failed to run kxdocker in either Gnome or KDE (it would seem it now needs a composite window manager, which needs a good graphics card, which I don't have) I settled with an autohiding...
It's probably of no consolation but we did resolve the black box issue (it was a huge black box across the whole of the bottom of the screen whenever kxdocker did anything) and the answer is yes it...
At last, someone with exactly the same problem as me!
I had it working just fine with Dapper, but now I've upgraded to Edgy I also get the horrible black box you describe  Same problem...
Thanks for your recommendation - it's the best OSX-look-alike I've seen. And the best part is it's really fast aswell!
