Re: DisplayLink Adapter with Kernel 3.10rc6

I used the 3.10 final kernel which was a LITTLE better - but I could only get "decent" performance with KDE 4.10 (went so far as to install Kubuntu) with basically ALL effects turned off....

    [ubuntu] Re: DisplayLink xorg.conf question

    Hi there!

Try upgrading your kernel to the 3.10rc series from the Mainline PPA.
This kernel allows my DisplayLink adapter to work out of the box! (with the occasional tweaking of my display...

Re: DisplayLink Adapter with Kernel 3.10rc6

I've determined that this is fairly specific to Unity (or I guess any DE that uses some hardware acceleration) - if I install MATE or Xubuntu Desktops, my whole session is fast.
    The monitor that's...

    DisplayLink Adapter with Kernel 3.10rc6

    Hi all,

After MONTHS of attempting various different drivers and tweaks to get a couple of different DisplayLink adapters to work, I've installed Kernel 3.10rc6 and the adapter works pretty much...

    Re: 3.9 is here...

Working fine here, except the Broadcom STA driver fails to compile - not a show stopper since that driver is bugged for my BCM4313 as it is.

    Re: Unity Dash - searching

This is definitely libcolumbus causing issues.
I was seeing this issue with "skype" - however I can confirm updating about an hour ago seems to fix it.
The "fuzzy" searching with typos is really...

    [ubuntu] Re: Regression in Empathy

This might be true to some extent - however I for one am required to use Jabber/XMPP for in-house commercial instant messaging. A system that works quiet well.. usually.
I also use Empathy to handle...
  13. [ubuntu] Re: btrfs makes old hdds appear to operate faster

I've had a really good experience with btrfs so far - I had nil of any install or grub related issues at install and everything's been fairly smooth.
Performance is probably on par with ext4 - or...
  14. [ubuntu] Re: btrfs makes old hdds appear to operate faster

I'm still using btrfs on my Raring install and I'm absolutely loving the apt-btrfs-snapshot functionality!
However, I'm finding that performance is degrading terribly. I'm coming across many...

  19. [ubuntu] Re: btrfs makes old hdds appear to operate faster

    Good stuff Ventrical!
I've been using btrfs-apt-snapshot quiet regularly over the last few days while I'm messing with 13.04 and some pretty unstable apps and tweaking things - it's incredibly handy!

    [gnome] Re: Empathy

I don't really have any problem with the new Empathy/Online Accounts integration and I'm using it for Facebook, GMail, Live & XMPP/Jabber. What specific issues do you actually have?
  22. [ubuntu] Re: btrfs makes old hdds appear to operate faster

I've done a fair bit of testing of btrfs, partly because of pure curiosity & partly because I specialise in Linux storage technologies for work.

Are you using default mount flags in your fstab or...

    Re: New Plymouth screen, etc.

Is it possible to get this stuff via PPA? I do not have the Gnombuntu distro installed, just installed gnome-shell over the top of standard.
