The latest news is that the beta release of Noble has been pushed back a week to April 11th.

rc4 has appeared on Mainline
Yesterday, I chanced un-pinning the files I'd locked and ran an update.
I'm happy to say that the latest versions caused no unwanted silence, and that this thread can now be considered

UPDATE - Canonical just announced their intent to run kernel 6.8 as standard for Noble.

It shouldn't be me then, I've been using mainline kernels.
That got it, except that I had to downgrade gir1.2-wp-0.4 as well.
I've pinned all 3 until I'm sure there's a fix available.

Whatever caused my problem, it hit the repos between 05:00 UTC & 17:00 UTC yesterday (Thursday 25th Jan, 2024)
Running Kubuntu 24.04. It was fine this morning.
Ran aptitude safe-upgrade just now, and it seems to have removed all audio devices, both input and output.
Looking at /var/cache/apt/archives shows...

Never mind, that was on 6.8, not 6.7.
Both 6.6 & Noble are labelled as "LTS" versions. I'd say it's almost certain.
Noble just jumped to 6.6 the other day.

Just looked at the Mainline daily build - The 6.7rc1 amd64 build succeeded, but the self-tests failed because "missing kernel header files".

I understand that DDR5 motherboards do an extended set of "memory training" excercises on boot.
Could that be part of your problem?
