SMPlayer 0.7.0 released
New favorite menu, where you can add your favorite videos, music, streams, youtube videos... It's also possible to add submenus.
Support for youtube. Now you can...
Version 0.6.10.
Most important changes since 0.6.9:
New vdpau configuration dialog, which allow to select the vdpau codecs to use.
Port for eCS, OS/2 (by Silvan Scherrer).
New...
smplayer tries to play title #1 by default, but that title may not be the movie itself. You can select another title in the menu Browse -> Title.
Although I'd suggest to turn on the option "Enable...
The screenshot option is turned off if the folder for screenshots (preferences) does not exist.
Paste here the output from mplayer.
Maybe mplayer wasn't compiled with fribidi support.
Try this build:
https://launchpad.net/~rvm/+archive/mplayer
That version is very old. Why don't you update it to 0.6.9?

No, removing an application doesn't remove the configuration stored on your home directory.
That's really strange.
Try to delete the smplayer configuration (~/.config/smplayer/)
Install the mplayer version (2:1.0~rc3+svn20100416-0lucid3) from this PPA, I think it has support for fribidi:
https://launchpad.net/~rvm/+archive/mplayer
Maybe you need to use the mplayer option -flip-hebrew.
No. Look at the date in the version number: MPlayer SVN-r1.0~rc3+svn20090426. It's more than a year old.
The one in my ppa is 2:1.0~rc3+svn20100416-0lucid3, a month old.
(Ubuntu usually...
Try to update your mplayer to see if it fixes the crash.
You can find a newer version here:
https://launchpad.net/~rvm/+archive/mplayer
I think you should explain better what is your problem.
In smplayer I think it should work ok if you select the right encoding and font for the subtitles.
There are several ways.
In preferences -> advanced there's a field where you can enter "actions" to be run every time a file is played. Type there extrastereo_filter true
Another possibility,...

(though it does state that one should use the other ppa's in the links[/QUOTE]
I don't recommend to use that ppa (http://launchpad.net/~rvm/). It's for me only (to test things) and sometimes I...
So what should be the correct build-depend?
I think my latest build depends on libvdpau-dev and not on nvidia-185-libvdpau-dev.
In smplayer you need to change the "mplayer executable" in preferences -> general, change mplayer to mplayer-mt.
Then you need to change the "threads for decoding" in preferences -> performance.
That's probably because smplayer is using xv. Go to preferences -> general -> video and select another video output, and you'll have video in all windows.
Take a look at the mplayer log (options -> view logs).
I found two problems:
This is the first problem. I guess you're passing "af=volume=10:0" in preferences -> advanced, but you're doing wrong. I suggest to remove that option.
The 2nd...
Take a look at the mplayer log (options -> view logs).
What's the output from mplayer? It will probably provide info about why vdpau didn't work.
