Just how similar were these cases to my problem? Could these users maintain their connection with a ping? Was the issue with their network adapters going to sleep, when not in use?
I haven't been...
My Asus USB-N13 adapter was giving that "destination host unreachable error" before as well, but has since worked fine. Now I just keep a ping open to my gateway IP, and it keeps my connection alive....
I mentioned previously that I already tried blacklisting the rtl8xxxu driver, without success.
The rtl8xxxu is the newer driver. It should work better, no?
Does your fix still work with kernel 4.4.0-53-generic?
default-wifi-powersave-on.conf
Has been changed to:

wifi.powersave = 2
rtl8192cu, probably. I tried renaming the file to " rtl8192cu-disable-power-management.conf ", previously, as well as editing " options 8192cu rtw_power_mgnt=0 rtw_enusbss=0 " to say the following: "...

I have an Asus Adapter (RTL8192CU). I find that if I am pinging a website such as Google or Yahoo, that I will not lose my connection. The issue seems to be that Ubuntu is putting the device to sleep...
Greetings,
In the following rule, is Port 137 the port that the UDP packet leaves 192.168.1.1 on, or is it the port that 192.168.1.2 receives the packet on?
Allow - In - UDP - From:...
Greetings,
Using the "Simple" tab in GUFW I can create an "Outgoing" rule like so:
Allow - Out - TCP - 80
Now what if I go into the "Advanced" tab and make an "Outgoing" rule like so:
Greetings,
I've configured GUFW as follows. I'm wondering if someone can review it to see if it's going to work well and if there is anything missing or unnecessary:
First, I allowed all...
Greetings,
I could see myself using Xubuntu, if it weren't so... unattractive looking. I want to have some visual appeal to my desktop. Anyway, I know that there are some fairly nice themes...
I began experiencing this problem on Kubuntu 12.04 tonight. The solution was easy:
#1 - Close out Skype
#2 - Delete the .skype folder from the Home folder (show hidden files and folders)
#3 -...
Greetings,
I am wondering if it is both possible and reasonable for a person to use LibreOffice to learn MS Office. If someone were to purchase a "Teach Yourself Excel" or "Teach Yourself Word"...
Sadly KDE doesn't seem to have a great video player. Dragon Player has limited functionality, and so does KMPlayer. I decided just to go ahead and install Totem. Totem does work with Dolphin,...
Greetings,
I don't know if there are many Kubuntu / KDE users here, but I'll try. I've spent 15+ hours configuring Kubuntu now the way I want it. But I still have a little way to go:
In...
I want to subscribe to this thread, as I find this topic very interesting.
So, you keep the Precise repos, but update to the latest Linux Mint repos? Will this really work for release...
What does this comment mean? Can someone actually modify the boot partition to enable getting around the encryption?
Thanks.
Because they don't fit Unity? No. I just don't like changes that are silly like:
You
Everyone Else
Some Other Dude
That is downright ridiculous. (Changes to Permissions)
I have used Gnome Shell installed in Ubuntu. I kind of liked it, but I don't like the changes they are planning. I'm just speaking based on what I see written all over the web, and what I see tells...
What I'm seeing all over the web, is word that Gnome-Shell is dying in popularity. The more sensible idea is for a Gnome-Classic spin of Ubuntu. There would be no shortage of users eager to switch...
Greetings,
I have decided to upload a picture to prove that I was able to get the "Search for Files" option back into my "Places" menu.
Please see the attached photo.
Is anyone else...
Thanks for trying, I listed everything as best as I remember. Maybe it does have something to do with having MATE installed? I hope others will try as well.
Greetings,
I don't know if this is well known or not, but if not, I think I discovered something. I wanted to add the 'Search for Files' option back into Gnome Classic. Somehow I managed to do...
