[SOLVED] Re: CD doesn't result in ~/

Sorry, that's my fault for not catching a type while typing on my phone last night. Poor form to ruin the post title.

[SOLVED] Re: CD doesn't result in ~/

Using printenv it looks like I do not have PS1 set.

I set it to match yours in my /etc/environment. But it didn't change the behavior after logging out/in.

I'm still trying to grasp how to use...

Strange question, and not a big deal. But normally when you type cd into the terminal you get the prompt

    user@host:~

But now on my computer when I type cd I get this instead

  7. [kubuntu] Re: 20.04 apt upgrade breaks second monitor, no longer detected

That does nothing, same result as above. Also I've installed/re-installed all available versions of the driver/nvidia-settings multiple times now with no success. I've even tried installing the .run...
  8. [kubuntu] Re: 20.04 apt upgrade breaks second monitor, no longer detected

    Yeah, nvidia-settings is installed.

It looks like this when I open it with sudo.

    288604

And then like this if I drag it to be bigger.

It's like things aren't really installed, but...
  9. [kubuntu] 20.04 apt upgrade breaks second monitor, no longer detected

I upgraded (apt update, apt upgrade) my system today. I didn't completely look at everything it did, because I was rushed. After a reboot, my monitor plugged in to my DVI cable works, but my...
  10. [kubuntu] Re: Evolution Mail "The session does not exist"

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's the problem, or something related.

I've solved my issue with a workaround by disabling the KDE wallet. I don't use it. And when I turned it off/disabled it, and then...

  13. [kubuntu] Re: 2nd monitor not recognized after power outage

I don't know. I've just been running apt update and apt upgrade at times.

    ll /boot/vmlinuz*
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 Dec 8 12:25 /boot/vmlinuz -> vmlinuz-5.4.0-56-generic ...
  14. [kubuntu] Re: 2nd monitor not recognized after power outage

    Ok, I tried

    cd /boot
    sudo dpkg -S vmlinuz-5.4.0-56-generic

    That seemed to work fine.

Then tried this again (slightly different than what I did above
  15. [kubuntu] Re: 2nd monitor not recognized after power outage

Ok, I booted a live CD and fixed the /boot issues with fsck. Now that's fine with no errors. And my /boot is 1.1 G and 18% used, so not a running out of space issue.

    Still have the same issues...
  16. [kubuntu] 2nd monitor not recognized after power outage

Everything was working, then had a power outage at home. When I reboot, only one monitor is recognized.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the nvidia proprietary (460) drivers and still the same. Also...
  17. [SOLVED] Re: Autocomplete ssh logins on a FreeIPA system?

This works. Didn't know about this, thanks. Not quite what I'm looking for because I have to manually put entries in it seems, and it doesn't auto-add after a first initial log in. But that's not a...

  20. [kubuntu] Re: Network/Ethernet limited to 100Mbps half duplex on startup.

  21. [kubuntu] Re: Network/Ethernet limited to 100Mbps half duplex on startup.

Yeah, I thought about doing something akin to that. It just seems really 'hacky' to me.

But if that's my only/best option I can do that. It just makes no sense to me that I changed literally...
  22. [kubuntu] Network/Ethernet limited to 100Mbps half duplex on startup.
