    I just installed usb-modeswitch and it has worked! Mobile broadband is now listed under network manager! For reference, the dongle is a 3 Huawei 1550.

    I just tried on my wife's netbook and the same thing happened- no entry in the network manager list.... She is running Ubuntu 8.04 (the Dell remix for their minis).
