I'm having the same kind of issue.
It works fine at home, 60-70% at school and not at all in a meeting hall.
It worked fine as a VM in Windows 8.

I have a GRUB coming up, when the computer boots up, and shows Windows
on dev/sdb

No matter which IDE cable I use, Ubuntu always boots up, I have to unplug it to use Windows. Is there a better way, to switch between

We recently moved, and something new is happening with my Ubuntu:
In the old house, I could sign in, and it would stayed logged in,
and if you went way even for hourse, you could tap the mouse...

I had major problems with resolutions.
I switched my Acer monitor with a LG, and eveything was fine
I had to reinstall with 8.04, and things are back to normal...or considered to be that.
That didn't work
in that I did reset the deafault to US, and used the Generic Super Multi-Media KB, and everything worked fine!
