Hi, All
I'm having an issue where I am unable to connect to a TCP server socket open on an Ubuntu machine but I am able to connect if I open the same port on another machine using the same code....

Unity worked fine before I updated from 12.04 to 12.10.
I tried mitchelllc's link and now,...
Hey y'all,
I just updated to 12.10 and when I login I see my desktop icons but no unity dock or top bar. There are no window borders either. It works fine when I use gnome but I'd really like to...
to use xbacklight type in a terminal:
xbacklight -set <percentage>
example:
xbacklight -set 0
xbacklight -set 100
I got the cipher working a while ago.
Now to break it! ;)
Edit:

I figured out that compiz is crashing
This is not the problem I'm having. The desktop locks up so all I can do is move the mouse. From the sound of the fan I think the CPU is 100% but I can't tell because it's frozen.
When I launch Netbeans the splash screen comes up fine, but when the loading bar gets to the "starting modules" phase the Desktop freezes up. Also sometimes nautilus causes the same kind of...

I took 'metacity --replace' out of startup and tried both those commands but I still have minimal window effects.

I'm using gnome in Ubuntu 11.04 x64. When I was poking around in the CompizConfig Settings Manager all my window title bars disappeared. I found I could type "metacity --replace" in to the terminal...

I'v got an LTS, no wonder!
I have just tried to upgrade to Ubuntu 10.10 from 10.04 using the update manager
it asks me for me password and then a window opens saying "Upgrading Ubuntu to version 10.10"
it gets to...

No this is not homework. I'm a freshman in high school and I don't think they give assignments like that in high school.
A while ago I was listening to a Security Now podcast (#125) and the AES...
Hi,
I am trying to write my own 128 bit AES implementation in Java and I'm having trouble learning how AES works. I understand roughly how the cipher works but I don't understand how the key...
please help.
I'm trying to setup a mercurial code sharing server on an Ubuntu machine but I can't figure out how to get it running.
I'm setting up this server on a LAN so I don't want any security. Another...
